Sound Off for Dec. 19
On Putin's kind words about Trump: Welcome to my web, says the spider to the fly.
True statement
In a recent Sun Herald story, Moss Point Police Chief Art McClung, while discussing the need for people to lock their cars to prevent theft, said "... unfortunately, we don't live in the same world we used to live in." So true, Chief. So true.
Disqualified
The fifth Republican debate: Front to back, every word was about safety from terrorism; these folks are terrorized. Know this. There will never be "safety" for those who live in fear. These terrorized office seekers are disqualified by fear.
Keeping us safe?
While watching the GOP debate Tuesday night, I kept hearing "Obama has not kept this country safe." Well I must say 9/11 happened on the watch of George W. Bush, a Republican, and we have not had another one yet. I agree with Trump that the Iraq War was a very big mistake.
Terrible!
Tuesday night's GOP talkathon was "terrible, terrible, terrible!" So much unnecessary rhetoric and stating of false information. Lack of ability to debate and answer the questions instead focusing on our president and another candidate from another political party. This should be done in an election and not a primary process. Such rudeness, failure to follow pre-established agreed-upon rules and lack of respect for the moderators by some debaters who have such high self-egoism and believe they are above and better than people. All this reminded of a philosophy class I took years ago. One strategy was called "bandwagoning." Say what the people want to hear and play to their emotions. This strategy was well-used by the debaters. All that really needed to be said was: "I will be a servant to the American people and do my very best to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and keep Americans safe."
