Sound Off for Dec. 17

I'll help

I would love to play grandmother to Airman Oneal Brown and bake him sweet potato pies for Christmas. If he could get in touch with me, I will make sure he has enough to share.

Make you smile

This should put a smile on your face, Merry Christmas!

Please explain

Just received the bill for Part B Medicare for the next three months, and it went up over $50. Maybe a liberal Democrat can again explain to me how great I have it under Barak Obama.

Really?

What is this world coming to when an organization would file a lawsuit over a Nativity scene being on display at the county courthouse?

Forgive them

In answer to "Live and let live," I got news for you. We live on a street where neighbors think loud music at 7:30 a.m. is OK. I know the Bible says we should love these people as ourselves but it is impossible. All we can do is ask God to forgive them.

Really good show

Give your kids, grandkids, friends or yourself a super Christmas gift and go see the Harbor Lights Winter Festival in Jones Park. You cannot begin to get an idea of the beautiful light show that is coordinated with the Christmas music and lovely colors just by driving by on U.S. 90. Don't think you are too old, either. We are in our 70s and loved walking through and sitting on the risers provided to take in the show. Thank you, Island View!

Pier here

I'd like to see a pier concept here in Biloxi, like the Santa Monica Pier in California. It could be built at the foot of Veteran's Avenue, and they could reclaim part of the Gulf for parking. Vendors bid to sell merchandise and even the parking concession is contracted out. It could have a small carousel and Ferris wheel just like the one in Santa Monica, too. At night the neon lights of the Ferris wheel would be a premiere calling card for Biloxi. You could even fish off the end. I'd like someone to conceptualize this and try to get investors interested then committed before pitching it to the City Council. This is family entertainment.

Extra Gate issues

I agree with your Sound Off, "Gate Issues." But since I am a business person outside closed Gate 2 Keesler on Judge Sekul, my idea for the gate would be to open the gate from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays, make the gate an exit only, which would help with security by not allowing an entrance at all. This would definitely help Keesler traffic and also help 25 businesses located outside Gate 2, which has been closed for the last 10 or 11 years. One guard could easily do the job.
