Sound Off for Dec. 15
I find it hard to understand why certain groups want to banish anything having to do with Christianity. When asked what is the greatest commandment, Jesus said it is to love God with all your heart, and the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. Even if you don't believe in Jesus or any God at all, what harm could there be in loving your neighbor as yourself? Christians do not demand that you believe as they do. You are not threatened in any way by not believing. But the world does benefit from Christian beliefs. Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone would love their neighbor? Why not just live and let live? If you don't want to look at a Christmas nativity scene, then just look away.
A good message
What is it about a mother, father and a baby in a manger that some people find offensive? Does the message of peace on earth and good will toward men offend them? Would a Hanukkah menorah be equally offensive? Neither requires a person to believe in either expression of faith but are meant to share the joy and love we have been given by God with our neighbors, no matter what the neighbor's belief. I should think that atheists, Muslims, Wiccans or any other group would be grateful that the Judeo-Christian ethic is a call to practice mercy and compassion toward any and all neighbors.
Lopsided blame
It seems that some people on the left really enjoy blaming everything wrong in this country on the conservative right. They really ought to appreciate those of us who are conservative. They might otherwise have to place the blame on themselves. I am curious about one thing. Do the Democrats take off their halos when they go to bed at night?
Bad idea
I would like to add to the "Wake up" comment. Trump and the bullying and bashing of Americans is one thing. However, when you do this to world leaders, you put the United States of America in harm's way. Trump's son will never fight in a war. We don't need Trump jeopardizing this country and our men and women in our military.
Didn't single out
The framers of the Constitution may have trusted in God, but they weren't leaving it to men to use government to establish any single religion over another.
Fighting religion
It is indeed a sad state of affairs when "a group" of humanists, atheists and other non-religious Americans call for the removal of the courthouse Nativity scene. I guess the world view on fighting religion has come to town. Sad, very sad and has caused this lady to wonder who we live next door to.
