Sound Off for Dec. 11
I see the Gulfport Council went against the advice of the Planning Commission and knuckled under to the guy who wants to cut oak trees for a parking lot. What's wrong with building parking under the trees? I know for a fact when I'm looking for a parking place in the broiling Mississippi summer sun, I always look for a shade tree. Unfortunately, there are few and those spots are always the first to be occupied.
It's hardly fashion
Wearing your pants down past your butt is not an acceptable fashion statement -- it's obscene and against all societal norms. I applaud Gautier and any town which is trying to fight the despicable and crude prison "culture."
He gets it
Personally, I think Trump is the only candidate who does get it. A great many Americans are very tired of being considered second-class citizens in their own country.
Station at Coliseum
For me, the best place to put an AMTRAK station in Biloxi would be on the Coliseum grounds, just west of the parking garage. Plenty of parking and centrally located to both Biloxi and Gulfport. Just an idea, but a good one.
Don't confuse them
I wonder if the average citizen realizes that Muslim is not a nationality. The nationality of these people are of Arab descent. They become Muslim when they accept Islam as their religion. Don't confuse the two.
Don't like it? Don't look
It is a crying shame that political correctness has to bring about problems with a Nativity scene. I for one do not see any particular religion being pointed out with the Nativity scene. If people don't believe in it, don't look at it, but don't penalize the ones that pay for it out of their own pockets and would like to look at it. This is America and not some Third World country. Our system of government was founded on Christian beliefs. Just because the Nativity scene is in the courthouse, that is no reason to ban it. I don't see any religious ceremonies going on around it.
That's stretching it
Come on, Phil. I can see how the aquarium could be linked to Gulf restoration and even almost see how the port expansion has a very remote semblance of restoring the Gulf. However, a road project in Jackson County and Internet upgrades are just plain fraudulent.
Use those signals
I am always shocked when I see an automobile make turn after turn with no turn signal, then observe a "Nurses Touch Lives" license plate. One good way to touch lives in a positive manner is to improve highway safety, which includes use of turn signals.
