Why are Republicans sore losers? Mark Tullos lost to Rep. Bo Eaton by a drawing of straws. The governor and other officials were at this tie breaker. That should mean the one who draws the longest straw wins. But no. Tullos is challenging it. Now, we have three Republicans and one Democrat making the decision. Can't guess who will win this time. But the writing is on the wall.
Politics closed a library
Hancock County should have two libraries south of Interstate 10 and two north. Instead of closing the library in Diamondhead, it should have merged the Waveland and Pearlington libraries. Now those three down south only leave one north to serve the largest part of the county. Politics often doesn't use common sense.
Guns may be needed
The classic liberal deception when talking about our constitutional right to bear arms is they will say, "Don't worry, no one is trying to take away your right to go hunting." They choose that language very carefully and intentionally because they are trying to reduce the Second Amendment to say it applies to hunting and target practice. It doesn't. The Second Amendment exists because our Founding Fathers knew very clearly the day might come when Americans would need to defend themselves from internal enemies, foreign or domestic.
Can we justify the numbers?
According to recent news, 462 people have died this year in mass shootings (a mass shooting is currently defined as a single event in which four or more people are killed by a hostile shooter or shooters). According to other statistics, the population of the U.S. exceeds 320,000,000, so 462 mass-shooting deaths a year is minuscule by comparison. It is a small price to pay for not having stricter gun regulations and surveillance. Right?
Yay for repaving
Thanks to Biloxi for finally tackling the much-needed Camellia Street repaving project.
Team in wrong class?
Just watched the Simmons vs. Resurrection football championship game. Simmons should be in class 2A, not class 1A. Not fair for Resurrection football team. Who makes the call on the different classes?
Brava for proper usage
Although Tammy Smith's article on the holiday home tour made me want to attend, what impressed me most was that Ms. Smith's writing demonstrated she possesses an increasingly rare knowledge in our time. Ms. Smith knows how to properly use an apostrophe.
Call for peace
If Islam wants to be known as a religion of peace, why don't Muslims give ISIS a "piece" of their mind? The silence of the moderate Muslim world is deafening.
