Sound Off for Dec. 3

A joke

The rate increase that Mississippi power is asking for is a joke. If it is a 15 percent raise it should be capped at 2 percent a year until reached.

Other worries

The Gautier City Council needs to stop worrying about trivia (saggy pants and skirts) and start working on getting businesses to come to Gautier. Gautier has a thousand more residents than Ocean Springs, but drive U.S. 90 from Mississippi 57 west to the Ocean Springs Bridge and look around. Go back to Mississippi 57 and drive east to the Gautier Bridge and look around. You will think you just drove through a town in a third world country.

Waste of police work

I noticed that the article on Gautier and the Saggy Pants ordinance doesn't mention who actually proposed the ordinance. Do the powers that be in Gautier really worry so much about a wannabe walking down the street trying to hold his pants up that they need an ordinance to deal with it? What a total waste of police manpower it would take to enforce it.

Slow down, enjoy!

We are always in a rush. Why? Holidays are here. Let's everyone slow down. The life you save could be yours or a family member's. Traffic is awful. You can't change flow. Don't speed. Leave earlier and have regard for others. Time on Earth is short without rushing. Don't regret what could have been. Relax, be grateful. Enjoy shopping, family, friends, food, receiving. Happy holidays! Be safe. Obey laws.

Training issue

The woman who put tape around her dog's mouth to train him to stop barking was caught between a rock and a hard place. Had she not gotten him quiet, neighbors would have been upset about that, too. No win situation. The ones making comments have never seen training of a hunting dog, which is worse than a little piece of tape for a few seconds. I don't see any harm/cruel act to what she did. I love dogs not barking all night.

Over the edge

When he first started, I believed Mr. Trump had good ideas for this country. No. I'm not talking about his wholesale deportation of illegal immigrants. We all know that would be virtually impossible. But immigration reform, welfare reform, a stronger military and a staunch stance against American companies going overseas. But of late he has gone off the edge with his comments and rants, and people are still supporting him. If this continues and he gets the Republican nomination it will guarantee that our next president will be Hillary Clinton.
