Sound Off for Nov. 28
I read the Sound Off daily, but I can do without all the pettiness because someone needs a therapist. So what if someone's phone rings while you are also in line for the same reason? Who cares about the ringtone just because you aren't a Saints fan? Don't you realize the dire things happening in world and the U.S. -- even in your own state? Give everyone a much-needed break from all who are wearing blinders.
Good neighbor?
On our street, we have the most non-caring bunch of neighbors around. They are the kind that if your house was on fire, they would bring marshmallows. Hard to believe.
Senior care
I am a senior citizen, 84 years old. Every holiday, there are people who tell me, "Don't make any plans because I am coming to take you to my house for dinner." Another says, "I'm bringing you a plate of food for dinner." It sounds nice, but they never come get me, nor do they bring me a plate of food. I no longer take them seriously. They are in no way obligated to do anything for me and maybe they mean well, but I wish they would stop saying what they don't mean. It only makes my situation worse. Like many seniors, I am old, lonely and sad at this time of year; friends and family members have passed on and I'm not always feeling well. Is it really necessary for people to play games like this with senior citizens?
Rock and a hard place
I do not believe we should turn our backs on any refugees, but I also believe they should go through the process, just like any other immigrant. Also, if we are getting people out of harm's way, we must look at the Christians being persecuted in Syria. They cannot go to the UN camps because they get persecuted by the radical Muslims within the camps so they have nowhere to go. They are truly left out in the cold between ISIS and the hostile environment in the refugee camps.
