Sound Off for Nov. 17
Candidates of both parties are calling for a declaration of war against ISIS. Over and over, these folks see war as the solution to terrorism. Some of them see war as the solution to everything. War, war, war. This myopic view is more failed thinking.
Why?
Why do the networks like to put Obama on TV every day? I know he's a camera hound, but you don't have to oblige him.
Stop the flow
I wish Obama would stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. just as he stopped the flow of oil in the Keystone pipeline.
Prioritize spending
Several current Sound Offs certainly put the school funding in perspective. Recently, I had occasion to be in a grade school teacher lounge. I was surprised to see a large flat screen TV, Keurig coffeemaker and several LazyBoy lounge chairs. Yes, it truly is about spending and priorities much more than adequate funding. I don't believe funding can ever be achieved to the acceptance of educators.
Put it in action
Without sounding too preachy, how many readers went to church and prayed for the victims in the Paris attack instead of just writing about it on social media? I wonder!
Enforce the laws
In complete agreement of comments on how coastal law enforcement by and large does not enforce traffic laws. Our streets and highways are absolutely more dangerous because of this. Motorists have free will to treat our streets, including ones in our neighborhoods and highways as if they are NASCAR tracks. Seldom do you see the presence of law enforcement doing the job of enforcing our laws on this matter. My experience is -- with Ocean Springs and all cities east, with Gautier the worst -- if you abide by the posted speed laws, you are in danger of being run over from the rear by tail-gaters, which is in and of itself a traffic violation. I can't understand why traffic enforcement is not a priority. Lack of enforcement results in more accidents, causing injuries and/or death.
