Sound Off for Nov. 11

Remember them all

Lets give a shout out to all the veterans behind the scenes i.e. cooks, quartermasters, maintenance, mechanics, pilots, medics and all the ones that make it happen. Not heroes, damn close.

The system works

People who complain about election results should consider all the countries in this world that are striving and dying for the opportunity to experience what we have in this country, the right to vote for their leaders. The U.S. has been the most successful inclusive form of government in history, a Republic utilizing a democratic model to run the country's business.

What's up with this?

Driving back and forth to work in Alabama for four years really opened my eyes about big 18 wheelers and their driving habits. It's dangerous and infuriating when two big rigs drive side by side on the highway and refuse to move over and let you pass. I don't know what their game is.

Interest attracts money

Re subject Sound Off in Tuesday's paper: The problem is not "adequate" funding, but allocation of funding. If education priorities were realigned, there would be more than "adequate" funding for the items you mentioned. Money flows where the interest lies.

Hazardous situation

On too many mornings, I've witnessed cars taking the parking bay at U.S. 90 and Beach Park Place in Long Beach to by-pass the traffic light. It is a dangerous situation with cars speeding through the parking bay. Beach walkers and runners please stay away from this area for your safety. MDOT/Harrison County, this was a terrible design. Significant speed bump or other deterrent needs to be implemented here before someone is injured. In the meantime, LBPD or MHP would do well to patrol this area.
