Sound Off for Nov. 6
The ease with which our friends in Jackson confused and misled people about Initiative 42 certainly points to their motive of keeping the state dumbed down.
Same ol', same ol'
It's difficult to understand why the people in this state keep electing the same old state leaders who keep this state at the same old place at the bottom due to their policies. Wait, I know. Its because they have an "R" after their names. Hopefully the political trickery over the education initiative will open a few eyes anyway.
Southern thing
This is not a liberal or a conservative thing. It's a Southern thing. Alabama grows more chickens then any other southern state except Arkansas. So why can't you get good fried chicken unless you come to Mississippi?
Landscaper woes
I have tried to get a landscaper for a home I have for sale. I have driven 30 miles to the house for sale several times to meet with landscapers who said they wanted the job but never started. I have called 20-plus via Internet, phone book, newspaper and or nurseries' references. Why say you want a job and not show or respond?
Glasses found
Prescription eyeglasses were found in the Edgewater Estates neighborhood in Biloxi. Please leave your number with Sun Herald for information on getting the glasses returned to the owner.
Paying it down
In case you missed it, the deficit for fiscal 2015 was the smallest since 2007; In spite of the fact that the maximum tax rate is 39.6 percent and we're still paying off Bush-incurred debts. Who says the Democrats are spend-thrifts?
A mile in their shoes
I read the letter about parking at the shipyard. I laughed until I cried. He needs to park out in the South Forty with us hourly workers and appreciate that he has a paved parking place close to his office and not have to walk a mile to his work area.
Children learn bad habits
Parents, children learn from watching you. Today, almost a week after Halloween, I am still picking up candy wrappers on my daily walk. A child eating candy would not naturally throw the wrapper on the ground. He had to learn that behavior from an adult.
Kate's Law blocked
Harry Reid has blocked "Kate's Law" because as he says: "It costs too much!" I wish he had used the same reasoning to block Obamacare!
Education last
I have to wonder way our Republican leadership fought so hard against the education initiative. They created a confusing ballot. They campaigned on fear and misunderstanding. I am disgusted and disheartened that they refuse to make education a priority in our state.
