Sound Off for Nov. 5
To the gentleman who stopped on Community Road to pick up the turtle in the middle of the road, thanks. I was in the process of turning around when I saw you walk out.
Prevailing leadership
Initiative 42 fails, misinformation and ignorance prevails. Somewhere in a back room, the State Republican leadership is laughing and slapping themselves on the back.
Confusing the issue
At 6:45 p.m., as I stood in an adjacent booth, a lady had to ask a poll worker for help with voting on the amendment. It appears that proponents of 42A were successful in their efforts to confuse voters to defeat the initiative.
Just imajin
Thank God, Issuetive 42 did'n pass. Culd you imajin what this state wuld be like if it spent more money on edukation?
Fly it
Agree totally with "It's Hypocrisy," and have for weeks. A state-funded institution absolutely should not be able to refuse or declare it will not fly their state's flag. Absurd! We, the majority, voted for this Mississippi flag, and it has not been changed or replaced yet. Fly the flag; your flag.
What side?
I pray the people of Mississippi will wake up. I applaud USM and Ole Miss for their stance to put a flag up that unites us, not divides. It's time for new thinking, new politics and a new vision for Mississippi. What side of history do you want to be a part of this day? Be blessed!
Please explain
The price of crude oil is at its lowest in the last eight years. Oil companies are laying off workers. Gasoline prices have come down, but motor oil is still around $5 a quart. Why?
Take it down
If your flag is torn or faded, please take it down. If you can't replace it right away, it's better not to fly anything than to disgrace Old Glory.
Can't beat the price
I live in rural Stone County and have 12-foot digital outdoor antenna. I get Gulfport, Hattiesburg and New Orleans free TV stations.
Sell it
Since you cannot afford to build and insure it, may I suggest putting the property up for sale? I'm sure there are many corporations or companies that would be interested in developing the old Kmart property and can afford to insure it. How about Trump? He's got plenty of money.
