Who’s laughing now?

During their most recent trial, Philip and Alan Moran were photographed laughing, having found something humorous in the proceedings. I bet they don’t think their new guilty verdicts are funny. Good for the prosecutor that he showed those with money, and formerly with power, are not above the law.

Hard to fathom

It’s hard to fathom that a father would put his freedom and reputation on the line for a troubled son who can’t seem to stop himself from repeating the same deviant behavior over and over. If Philip Moran loves his son that much, he should have gotten him the help he so needed a long time ago, instead of colluding with him to try to cover up his crimes.

Nothing funny about it

The display in court of the Moran father and son grinning, laughing and blowing kisses after their most recent convictions is stomach-turning. If anyone deserves the maximum prison time, it’s those two with their arrogant, above-the-law attitudes and lack of remorse for their repeated disgusting crimes.

Oh, nuts

This peanut butter lover loved Kat Bergeron’s Coast Chronicle about the history of peanut butter. Now I’m hungry.

Road warning

Motorists beware. The endless construction on Highway 49 comes with another unforseen consequence. If you are the victim of a hit-and-run driver, like I was near the I-10 overpass, don’t think you can rely on a traffic cam to identify the driver’s license plate because there are no cameras mounted on the overpass for some idiotic, inexplicable reason. I wonder how many times a day this happens.

The Kennedy Center

Congratulations to everyone who played a role in taking President Trump’s name off the Kennedy Center. At a moment when it seemed as though the relentless power of the playground bully could not be challenged, this achievement stands out as a meaningful, if modest, win. More importantly, it serves as a reminder that the judicial system might still possess integrity and the ability to deliver justice, offering a much-needed spark of optimism in difficult times.

It’s a right

Someone is up in arms because the Sun Herald reported an event to protest Donald Trump’s stranglehold on American democracy? Peaceful protest is a right, and suggesting people move to a foreign country rather than demonstrate their disapproval smacks of censorship and non-tolerance of opposing views. The remedy for a No Kings rally you object to is to not attend. If you object to the right of free speech of the protesters and this newspaper, you too can move out, to China, Russia or Iran.
