Other teams

There are 2 other Mississippi baseball teams, which are both still in the playoffs. There has been no coverage or mention of either of these teams in the paper. It would be nice to have some coverage besides just Southern, which has now been eliminated. Come on Sun Herald let’s get sport news on other teams.

Inequality

Latest figure: the 12 richest people in the world own more than the bottom half of the population, totaling 4.1 billion people. We’ve gone from Gordon Gekko’s “greed is good” to Elon Musk, who must be thinking, “greed is great.” Has his intellect and work ethic really created that much value, or is something else going on?

Immigration

I continue to be amazed at how poorly our immigration laws were enforced under the Biden Administration. Kudos to Team Trump for putting some teeth in our laws.

So many complaints

You’re made about the UFC event. You’re mad about the concert. Maybe just take a break and enjoy the celebrations. If some of them aren’t for you, that’s OK. It’s a big country.

Happy birthday, America

I’ve been looking forward to our nation’s 250th birthday celebration for years, so it’s disappointing to see it veering from history toward pay-per-view entertainment. A mixed martial arts competition on the White House lawn and an IndyCar race around the National Mall have many wondering whether this is a commemoration of American independence or an audition for a reality TV special. Apparently, when the Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor, they were laying the groundwork for cage fights and race cars. Nothing says “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” quite like an octagon and a checkered flag. At this point, the celebration feels less like a tribute to 250 years of American democracy and more like a three-ring circus, with Donald Trump serving as ringmaster.

Cuba

I see our President said that he wanted Cuba “to be a nicely run country.” I want the United States to be a nicely run country instead of one being run by the current clique of clowns.

Iran

Iran is a Shia Muslim theocracy, not a democracy. Shia faith requires a redeemer of Islam to appear at the end of the world to bring about a perfect and just Islamic society. These facts cause concern that Iran’s religion will require its theocracy to create nuclear Armageddon. This is what sets Iran apart from other nations. I just learned this on my own. Why is this not being broadly explained by Iran or the USA in national discussions about this war?
