Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.

More embezzlement

A bookkeeper in Hancock County embezzles nearly $1 million over 7 years, which we can ballpark it at about $140,000 a year. She spent it all, and she can’t pay it back. She gets less than 5 years in prison out of a maximum of 20 years. She should have at least gotten 7 years.

Birthright citizenship

I am ambivalent about birthright citizenship, but I can imagine President Trump, or someone like him saying, “That child’s parents are not good citizens, so they will probably not raise their child to be a good citizen, therefore their child should not be given birthright citizenship, even though it was born here.” Such a law against birthright citizenship would be too subject to political abuse as to who or what is a good citizen, so I would vote against it.

About time

Congress finally voted to reassert their constitutional authority to declare and control when and where we should go to war! National security is used as an excuse without any provocation or concern for the American people.

War in Iran

No one on earth can justify spending billions every day on a war that’s been “over” for weeks, and millions upon millions on vanity projects while people are losing their health care and food banks can’t keep up with the demand. Meanwhile, Donald Trump and the like keep getting richer through very questionable dealings while the national debt is out of control. It’s dumbfounding and unconscionable.

Greed

I bet if Donald Trump’s tax returns showed that he paid his fair share, probably in the tens of thousands of dollars, then he would never have sued over the leak that exposed his enormous greed.

MHSAA

Seems fair to me that private schools would be subject to a 1.5 multiplier on enrollment. Especially when you see what is happening in sports such as soccer.

Democrats

It is shocking to me that Democrats are so far gone they can’t admit what a clown show they have representing them.
