Hating Trump, loving Trump and more: Sun Herald Sound Off for May 10, 2026
Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.
Tired of Trump
I’ve never been a fan of Donald Trump. But more than that, I am totally perplexed by the continued support he receives after he’s blown up the NATO Alliance, illegally, flip-floppily, tariffed our business community into a rebate mess, tore down a wing of the White House now needing 1.5 billion dollars to fix it, created personal monuments everywhere, unilaterally started a now-deadlocked war with Iran, thrown the world into oil scarcity economic turmoil, politicized the DOJ with personal persecutions, and all that is just the recent stuff.
You’re confused
I can understand why Democrats feel confused by all the things happening with the Trump Administration. Remember we’re coming off of four years with a president who seemed to have no idea who or where he was and pretty much slept through his presidency. So things happening quickly must be quite a shock.
Game show
Trump’s handling of Iran feels less like foreign policy and more like a deranged game show: “The Game of Misfortune.” Make a $25 billion wager, spin the wheel, and hope it doesn’t land on World War III. Or maybe it’s “The Price Is Right,” where contestant J.D. Vance picks Curtain No. 2 and wins an all-expense-paid trip to Islamabad — no deal included.
Iran
I don’t really care how much the Democrats complain. I hope the Trump Administration continues to hammer Iran until it learns how to behave.
Temp workers
An article stated companies favor hiring temporary employees rather than permanent employees. Could it be that they don’t have to provide healthcare coverage?
The ballroom
It probably would have been a good idea to get funding, permits and approvals for the stupid ballroom before tearing down the East Wing.
Trump’s words
“And by the way, no government funds,” President Trump told reporters in the Oval Office last November. “These are all private individuals that put up a lot of money to build the ballroom,” he added. “Not one penny is being used from the federal government.” How’s that working out for us?
Which is it?
Which lie was told more often: That Mexico is going to pay for the wall or that private donors are going to pay for the ballroom?
False flags
When in a tight contest for the White House, the president allegedly gets nicked in his ear, which magically heals. When needing to build his precious ballroom, a gunman allegedly storms the White House Correspondents Dinner. Can’t wait to see what “danger” crops up next when he needs something.
Corrupt
Who wants to bet that the Trump ballroom project costing a billion dollars will be built by his campaign donor contractor buddies with none of it subject to competitive bidding? That’s how the “Mexican funded” wall is being built. Donald Trump’s most successful business acumen is corruption.
Great work
From Hunter Biden to the many Trumps, it sure seems like the best job in the world is being the child of a president. Seemingly unlimited access to money.
Keep burying it
Oh, no, they’re talking about the Epstein files again, looks like a good time to go to war with Iran. Oh, no, the war with Iran isn’t popular, looks like it’s a good time to ... release a bunch of UFO files, I guess?
