The ballroom, 401(k)s, gas prices and more: Sound Off Biloxi
Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.
Ballroom money
If the White House administration is using donations for the ballroom, why are they asking for a billion dollars of taxpayers’ money?
It was fine
Remember, there was nothing wrong with the old East Wing and ballroom. Both have served many administrations without complaint.
I’m stunned
I don’t believe it. You mean all those times the president promised that the ballroom would be privately financed and wouldn’t use any taxpayer money, he was full of it? Who could have ever seen that coming?

Yep, private donors are going to pay for the ballroom the same way Mexico is going to pay for the wall. Which is to say not at all.
401(k)
If your 401(k) lost money while the stock market is new record highs every few days you need a better financial advisor.
Gas prices
Given that Mississippi is the poorest state in the nation, one would think the governor might do something to help his citizens and place a moratorium on state gas taxes (currently 21.4 cents per gallon) until gas prices come down to pre-Iran war levels. I’m not holding my breath.
Gerrymandering
Politicians have been redrawing districts and wards for centuries. Now a Black politician, voted in by a Black-majority district, is under scrutiny? Those same districts were drawn based on political parties and a majority of White voters. What’s the difference?
