Iran nukes

Ah yes, the classic wartime math: on April 21, Donald Trump declares “complete and total obliteration,” and by May 4 his own intelligence agencies politely translate that into “basically unchanged” — which in normal English sounds less like victory and more like aggressively rearranging the furniture. So apparently Iran’s nuclear program has been both vaporized *and* still standing, depending on whether you’re listening to a campaign rally or the people whose job it is to actually know things. At this point, the only thing truly obliterated is the credibility gap between the talking points and reality.

The long view

So, Iran, the greatest sponsor of world wide terror, has developed atomic bombs and has mated them to medium range ballistic missiles. Then they take complete control of the Strait of Hormuz. They announce a new transit fee through “their waters”. The price of gas is expected to reach $10 a gallon by the end of the year. No one can do anything because of, you know, atomic bombs on rockets. Or, their nefarious efforts could be prevented by bombing their atomic weapons stockpile and destroying their navy. A disruption in the oil world? Yes, but only temporary. The president sees the long run, not just a TDS short-term vitriol of political obfuscation.

Nothing sacred

GOP Sen. Massie is pressing for release of the Epstein files. President Trump is so enraged he is supporting an opponent to run against Massie. And not only run against him, but also airing AI-generated ads against Massie showing him holding hands with AOC and other popular Democrats. It never happened. Nothing is too low for Republicans, gerrymandering and now Artificial Intelligence fakes and outright lies about the unnecessary war in Iran.

$25 minimum wage

Democrats have introduced legislation that would lead to a $25 minimum wage. How in the world do they think that would work?

Prices

Looking into a future where, somehow, Democrats have managed to pull off a $25 minimum wage. I can’t wait to see what it would feel like to pay $65 for a Happy Meal. Or a $200,000 for the most basic of cars.

Get a better job

If you don’t like what you’re making, get a better job. These people want to stay in entry-level jobs and earn a living in entry-level jobs meant for students and kids, not careers.

My affordability

The president is wrong. My 401k lost money last quarter. My flood, wind, homeowners and car insurance went up. Gas prices went up. Groceries went up. My taxes increased. My health insurance went up. Costs of flights doubled. Stores have fewer people shopping in them. Companies are starting to close. People are losing their jobs. Wake up everyone! He’s doing a horrible job and I don’t see him caring at all. He only lies and lies some more. Recession, here we come.

Biden’s fault

The Trump Administration has blamed Joe Biden for the end of Spirit Airlines. I’m truly curious as to how deep into Trump’s presidency we’ll need to go before things are no longer Biden’s fault.

Trump’s America

Everything costs too much. Planes are crashing and hitting things ... when they actually fly. So this is Making America Great Again, huh?

Doing great, huh?

It seems the only thing Trumplicans can come up with to post in this column is to complain about Democrats complaining about Donald Trump. Surely they could get more inventive and expound on how they love broken promises, sky-high food and gas prices, spending millions on the remodeling of everything in Washington D.C. and a war that Trump just claimed is “very popular.” Do more to convince us how great it’s going.

A compliment

I feel like I’ve been too hard on our president and his fine administration. So I made a promise to myself that I’d say something nice about him. It’s tough, but I came up with the White House social media feeds are funny. So at least we’ve got that going for us.

Political ignorance

I saw a post in Sound Off telling Democrats to stop blocking Congress from getting things done. This political ignorance is upsetting. The Republicans now hold the majority in both the house and the Senate. Our president is a Republican as well as six out of the nine members of the Supreme Court. The Democrats cannot get even one bill passed because they have no power. We can change that by voting for Democrats at the next two elections.
