Shaky stewards
Gulf Coast Restoration Funds get $30M a year, up to 2033, from BP for the damage from the 2010 oil spill. Yet, I read there are at least 7 beach closures on the Coast, even where the triathletes swam, and this year’s list posted today has zero dollars for anything water-related, but for a single bulkhead in backwaters.
Slow down
A federal judge blocked the construction of President Trump’s big, beautiful $400M golden ballroom. He told Trump “you don’t own the White House.” Trump will have to wait a little longer to party with the red hat billionaires until he can appeal in the interest of National Security, of course.
Common sense ID
For years, voter ID has been labeled suppressive, yet even polling shows strong support across communities, about 80% of Black Americans and 77% of Hispanics favor requiring photo ID, with many saying it would make them more likely to vote, not less. That’s not suppression, that’s confidence. Requiring identification and proof of citizenship is a reasonable, common sense step to protect election integrity and ensure every legitimate vote counts.
Voter ID
I truly don’t understand why it should be such a problem to present an ID in order to vote. Unless, increased security is the problem.
Enough inaction
Mississippians, if you’re as frustrated as I am with the lack of real accountability from our elected officials, now is the time to speak up. We handed our leaders a clear mandate, yet serious concerns, from government waste and unanswered questions about past investigations to election integrity and unequal justice still remain unresolved. Don’t stay silent. Contact your legislators, demand stronger, more decisive action, and remind them they work for us. If they won’t act, we will remember when it’s time to vote.
Hormuz vs. Venezuela
Why doesn’t the U.S. and its allies stop Iran from selectively blocking shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which is only 21 miles wide? Some experts reason that if the U.S. goes all-in on Hormuz, Iran can respond by hitting: U.S. bases in the Gulf; Oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia/UAE; shipping far beyond Hormuz; regional allies (Israel, etc.). And that’s not speculation, it’s already happening. What are we waiting for? We affected regime-change in Venezuela. What’s the hold-up with Hormuz? Let’s go.
Tiger
I just watched on TV a certain group of ladies defend Tiger Woods and suggest sympathy and empathy for him. The fact that he has had ten surgeries on his leg and is in chronic pain from that is no excuse for being a menace on the road. And what caused his leg to nearly be amputated? His last speeding/roll-over crash. He needed help back then and is now saying he will get it. Good. In the meantime, he should not be allowed to drive.
