No Kings Day
I am really disappointed in the Sun Herald’s newspaper. I was looking at Nextdoor, and it said the Sun Herald was telling people where to go for No Kings Day on President Trump’s birthday. This is the USA, not China, Russia, or Iran. If you don’t like the way we live in the USA, move out.
College World Series
I guess since we aren’t Southern Miss, we can’t get any news on our team (Ole Miss) going to the College World Series. There were many articles, at the beginning of the paper, on Southern hosting a regional, although State hosted one also. No mention of any other team in the state. Now we have Ole Miss heading to the CWS and, again, no mention of this feat. We have other teams in our state besides Southern Miss. Please be fair and cover other teams
Congratulations
Elon Musk just became our first trillionaire because of SpaceX, a government contract. He was compensated very well for his services.
Restore our voice
For five years, Mississippi politicians have denied citizens the right to place issues directly before the voters. The ballot initiative process wasn’t taken away by the people, it was lost because lawmakers failed to fix a known flaw in the law. If you believe government should answer to the people, now is the time to act. Call, email, and confront your legislators. Demand they restore Mississippi’s ballot initiative process immediately. This is not about politics — it’s about whether the people still have a voice when elected officials refuse to listen.
No backsies
Reuters reports that President Donald Trump and his allies are pushing lawmakers to pass a resolution aimed at voiding his first-term impeachments. If he can’t buy his way out of trouble, he wants Congress to legislate it. The Constitution has no provision for such unprecedented action. But that’s never stopped him before. Congress can’t just wave a magic legislative wand and Ctrl-Z actual history? Shocking. The Constitution explicitly lays out how to impeach a president, but the founding fathers mysteriously forgot to include a “no-backsies” clause for when a president gets his feelings hurt. But since when has a lack of constitutional authority stopped a good political stunt? Because there is no official “Un-Impeach Me” button, Trump’s allies are turning to Congress’s favorite tool for doing nothing while pretending to do something: the non-binding resolution.
Low bar
Republicans are OK with their candidates past moral issues, but if you are a Democrat, you are called a thug. Just About all Trump’s cabinet have past allegations of fraud, sexual inappropriate behavior and ties to extremist groups. It’s too late to paint boundaries now.
Counterintuitive
Appointing a Director of National Intelligence with no intelligence background is as ridiculous as picking a non-physician as Director of Health and Human Sevices. Equally counterintuitive is appointing an ex-platoon leader (the smallest level of command) as Secretary of War. These appointments have resulted in a failing society and economy. This Administration has removed our highest levels of military experience and intelligence and replaced with totally unqualified loyalists. This is exactly how oligarchs are birthed.
