Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.

Disgusting

Three months ago, social media was full of Republicans trying to get people fired for posting unflattering things in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s tragic killing. Today, President Donald J. Trump just delivered a truly vile post on Truth Social, celebrating the murder of Rob Reiner and his wife and crediting his death to Trump Derangement Syndrome. This is your king?

Stop signs

Regarding crashes involving Gulf Coast Amtrak line and other train crashes, when I was growing up in Biloxi, there were stop signs at railroad crossings. The saying was stop, look and listen. We should go back to requiring stop signs at railroad crossings. It may save lives.

Islam

Islam is not a cult. It is the second-largest religion in the world and is a seriously-taken religion. When they pray their world stops, many businesses close for those few minutes. They recognize Jesus as a prophet. They are a peaceful people who defend their religion just as we do with both having hateful outliers. Their everyday acknowledgement is “Peace be with you.” Ironically, the same words spoken by Jesus.

Where is the outrage?

On the Coast, we have protests whenever an oak tree is cut down. So why is it OK to tear down a whole wing of the White House? It’s an historic building, and the historical society did not approve it. Plus, there were no plans, so I’m guessing no permits.

AI or not?

Every day, more videos, photos, and even entire news articles are being created entirely by artificial intelligence, and most people can’t tell the difference. As AI tools become more powerful and easier to use, the risk of misinformation grows right along with them. It’s time for clear rules requiring AI generated content to be labeled, no exceptions. The public deserves to know when what they’re seeing or reading wasn’t made by human hands. Transparency isn’t optional anymore, it’s essential.

Joe Biden

Joe Biden was shown on the sidelines at the Philadelphia Eagles game on Sunday. And I take no joy in saying he looked like he had absolutely no idea where he was or what he was doing there.

Immigration

It sure appears there has been a marked increase in immigration arrests in South Mississippi. Thank you, law enforcement, and thank you, President Trump.
