So, which is it?
A direct quote. Not from the “Seditious Six,” but from our proud Secretary of War, uttered in 2016: “That’s why the military said it won’t follow unlawful orders from their commander in chief. There’s a standard, there’s an ethos, there’s a belief that we are above what so many things that our enemies or others would do.” Are we still up for hanging people who say such things?
Refusing orders
While uncommon, military personnel refusing illegal orders is not unheard of. During the Vietnam War in 1968, there was an incident known as the My Lai Massacre. Warrant Officer Hugh Thompson Jr. exhibited remarkable bravery by refusing to participate in the unlawful killings. Instead, he chose to land his helicopter between U.S. troops and civilians, ordering his crew to protect the villagers. Thompson reported the massacre afterward, ensuring that the truth came to light. As a result, the officer who gave the illegal order was court-martialed. This incident serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of upholding moral and legal standards, even in the face of immense pressure. It demonstrates that refusing illegal orders is not only possible but also essential for maintaining integrity and protecting innocent lives.
Slamming Sen. Wicker
Sen. Roger Wicker has been hiding under his desk ever since President Trump came to town. Have you ever met him? He’s the executive example of a RINO: Republican in Name Only.
Police deaths
It has been over four years since the “great insurrection” of Jan 6. You still have people talking about all the police that were killed that day. The only problem is that it never happened. Not one single member of the police was killed. Joseph Goebbels said if you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. He would be proud of this newspaper.
Irrational hatred
The border is now secure, inflation is down. Wars around the world have been stopped. The Israeli hostages were released. The stock market is setting record highs. Hating President Trump because you don’t like his personality is like needing a complicated surgery and not wanting the best doctor because you don’t like his haircut.
That’s all?
A mere 25 jobs is going to re-open, dig-up, re-start one of the state’s worst Superfund disaster areas? Bet if you ask all those Jackson County residents living near that facility who have cancer or lost loved ones with cancer what they think, may not be as rosy as opening ceremonies were.
Hush
Things never to ask: A woman her age. A man his salary. The White House why the president is getting a secret medical procedure that makes him unable to do public appearances for the first three days of every month since September.
