Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.

East Wing palace

Regarding the demolition of the White House East Wing, the Sun Herald said it best. “The scope of the demolition, and Trump’s repeated promises that the White House itself would not be affected by the work, were in many ways symbolic of how he has conducted his presidency. On a variety of issues, he has blown past norms and traditions, often moving so quickly that it can be too late for courts, Congress or the public to catch up.” The King wants a palace and what the King wants, he gets.

We’ll pay, eventually

First, it was the ballroom will not touch the White House. Then, it was there may be some modifications to the East Wing. Now, the East Wing is in a landfill somewhere. Next, Mr. and Mrs. Taxpayer, prepare foot the bill.

Relax

Are folks aware that President Trump didn’t demolish the entire White House, just a small piece? This feels like folks wanting to be mad just because Trump did it.

Much ado

Honestly, I can’t remember the last time anyone cared about the East Wing of the White House. Maybe you’re all overreacting just a little bit?

Trump’s digs

In reference to President Trump’s $300 million dollar ballroom, I have a question: Is this where his throne is going to be placed?

It’s a distraction

Donald is pulling out and tearing down everything he can to distract from the Epstein files.

Biloxi beautification?

So the City of Biloxi has approved a Beautification Commission? What a joke. Before cutting the grass around the city, try taking care of the homeless problem. What do tourists think about our city when the first thing they see on our beaches near the lighthouse are several homeless people drinking all day under the handicap pavilion on the beach, as well as under overpasses? Or when they expose themselves to families on the beach while they use the median to urinate? Do you really think tall grass is the issue?

Insurance increase

I know people are complaining of the increase that will happen to Obamacare, but I just received my renewal for private health insurance and it increased substantially. Why should I have to pay the tremendous increase to my insurance then also pay for your Obamacare subsidy. The entire health insurance system needs to be scratched, and we should start over with affordable good quality insurance for all.

Listen to him

Rand Paul is a moderate conservative Republican. He voted in favor of limiting presidential power to conduct military activity without Congress’ authorization. He doesn’t hold back criticism of his own Republican Party, including the president. Current supporters of the president and the president himself would do well to listen to Rand Paul.

So mad

You’re mad that he’s tearing down the East Wing. You’re mad that he made a video about dumping poop on protesters. You’re mad about this. You’re mad about that. Doesn’t it get tiring?

The shutdown

The Democrats have shut down the government because they say they want free healthcare for all. What they don’t or won’t say, is they want free healthcare for illegals. The Democrats keeping putting illegals over the taxpaying citizens in our country. They are breaking our laws in order to protect illegals. Who keeps electing these traitors? When is this going to stop?

Not so ‘Affordable’

The Democrats, under President Obama, forced the ACA into law. From the beginning it has not been affordable, and now the Democrats want more help in the form of continuing tax credits to prop it up. Maybe pass the CR and go back to the drawing board for better healthcare?
