Welcome, Cruisers
What a joy it is to see so many fantastic vehicles on our streets. Let’s hope the weather is good the rest of the week.
Tariff bailout
I’m happy a bailout is being considered for farmers that are affected by tariffs, but what about all the other Americans that have or will lose their jobs and livelihoods due to this extremely misguided and illegal action? A farmer bailout will help them continue to produce food for our tables, but if no one can afford to buy that food what then?
Gulfport traffic
Several months ago, the city of Gulfport made a major media announcement, including live television coverage, of plans to relieve congestion at the intersection of O’Neal Road and Three Rivers Road. Since then, crickets, with no activity that would suggest work is underway. Northbound traffic still uses the right turning lane to go around vehicles turning left, which will lead to a major crash (if one has not already occurred). Traffic still backs up due to the lack of adequate turn lanes or signaling. Is the city actually going to do something?
Christianity
To those out there who say that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is not Christian, just look at the aftermath of the shooting and burning of the LDS Church in Michigan. They have forgiven the shooter and actually raised money for his family, which has a special needs child. If that’s not Christ-like, what is?
Always been great
We are making our military great again behind the strength of President Trump and Sec. Hegseth? I really don’t recall a time since perhaps the Revolution and War of 1812 when our military strength was in question.
Learn a trade
Throughout my military and civilian employment, I realized that if you have a skill you’ll never be hungry, broke or homeless. Some trades are bringing 6 digits home. Apprentice? Start there.
Take them down
Some agency should take down the shrimp signs on the traffic signals. That program became obsolete years ago.
Democratic shutdown
Hopefully, the Democrats will soon come to the realization that America voted for Republican leadership. It’s silly that a few Democrats are able to shut down the full government.
Need more Republicans
If there is one thing I’ve learned from this governmental shutdown, it’s that we need even more Republicans in Congress. Looking forward to seeing that happen in 2026.
Not about fetal life
The FDA’s approval of a generic abortion pill signals the anti-abortion issue was just a political tool to appeal to the evangelicals. The drug companies have stronger lobbyists.
VA care
To the Sound Off writer that stated that VA employees should have to get their health care at the VA: You would be very surprised at how many VA employees are veterans and do get their health care at the VA.
The real problem
It isn’t so much that Donald Trump is the President. It’s that we have become a nation that would elect a person like him.
