Doug deSilvey of Biloxi was the only survivor from a house on Point Porteaux in the Gulf Hills area of St. Martin. A wall of water swept away the house as Hurricane Katrina came ashore Monday Aug. 29. On Wednesday Sept. 7, 2005, deSilvey and other relatives visited the house, where they posted crosses in honor of deSilvey's ex-wife, Linda deSilvey, her parents Nadine Allen-Gifford and Ted Gifford, and his daughter, Donna deSilvey.

Forgotten victims

Most national news outlets only cover New Orleans, never even mentioning Mississippi. I find that ridiculous. We suffered in Katrina, and it was a natural disaster. Not man-made, like failures in NOLA.

The real problem

According to chatgpt, there have been 4,400 mass shootings in the last decade. 0.11% have been committed by transgender people. Point-11 means eleven hundred of a percent, so not even close to 1% of mass shootings have been committed by transgender people. Let’s quit with the petty transgender-people-are-criminals and focus on the 4,400 mass shootings in just the last decade. Doesn’t that seem a bit excessive? We could end this tomorrow if certain Americans would consent to sensible gun laws.

Auto bailout

Yes, the 2008 bailout of GM by the U.S. government did result in a loss for taxpayers, but it’s generally viewed as a move that prevented a much larger economic collapse in the auto industry.

Alice’s mirror

No more feigned umbrage about the socialism fear that Mandami is campaigning in New York on. Simply look to real-time Socialist Chairman TACO with his Intel venture, college & law firm takeovers, Proud Boy military occupations, corporate extortions, pay-for-play White House, monster DJT posters hanging on hallowed D.C. buildings, and all you hear is crickets.

Finally

It’s high time that a president make a statement when it comes to many of our crime-ridden big cities. I applaud President Trump for taking the initiative.

Security detail

Why, exactly, would Kamala Harris have a security detail? And why should the government be responsible for her protection now?

Voter suppression

Republicans are trying hard to make voting harder. Shouldn’t they be doing the opposite? They are really afraid of the midterms. I wonder why.
