Chicken story
I read the story about backyard chickens with great interest. We had them for years before Diamondhead outlawed them. The city refused to budge when we asked for the ordinance to be changed, even when the county agent discussed their great value. So now, I feed a flock of wild turkeys in my yard which is in a city that is designated a bird sanctuary while I buy yard eggs from someone who lives one mile away. Let people have chickens!
Bad timing
I see Harrison County is seeking money for a traffic study at the site of Buc-ees. For what? All the hoopla over the last year about this project bringing business and so forth. You knew it was happening and yet none of the leaders had a clue about traffic. Who was in charge? You might have done a study prior. Elementary.
Law enforcement
The commander-in-chief now plans to take over law enforcement in several major cities including D.C,. espousing rampant crime as the rationale. This, despite his FBI’s own statistics that confirms crime has decreased significantly. Come on FBI, don’t you realize that if your data does not support his lies, he’ll replace the data analysts with people that will support his irrational thought process? This is a serious concern — the politicization of federal law enforcement and data. If he attempts to override local law enforcement in major cities by citing false or misleading crime statistics, it raises red flags.
Abuse of power?
Trump is using National Guard troops to shut down any protests. That’s a First Amendment violation. What next, take your guns and ignoring the Second Amendment?
One question
Besides deporting immigrants,what else has Trump done that directly benefits us?
Other names
I agree with the recent opinion that a name change is in order for the Sound Off column. But I would take it a step further and think it should be called either “The Anti-Trump Forum” or “The Trump Tantrum Tribune.”
