Make public schools great

Dear politicians: Don’t force taxpayers to violate the Constitution and support religious schools. Religious environments and instruction should not be tax supported--directly or indirectly. I don’t want my taxes to support Jewish schools or Christian schools, Muslim, Buddhist, or Hindu schools. If parents prefer to have their children educated in a religious environment with religious instruction, that’s fine, but that should be on their dime. Public schools provide basic knowledge for everyone.Taxes should make public schools great.

Why motorcycles?

Why have motorcycles in the public domain? Why should any city, county, highway patrol or any law enforcement agency have motorcycles? They cannot ram a car to stop it. They cannot outmaneuver a car. The officer cannot use the bike as a shield in a shootout. The crook can ram the bike and end the pursuit. There are too mahy negatives.

FEMA politicized

President Trump is threatening to withhold FEMA assistance to states that do not align with him politically. It’s incredibly frustrating when essential support like disaster relief gets politicized. FEMA’s purpose is to provide aid based on need, not political allegiance, so when that mission is compromised, it can have serious consequences for communities in crisis. People should be able to rely on the government in times of disaster, regardless of who they voted for or what party they support. It’s heartbreaking to think of people in dire situations being denied help because of political games. Many individuals might not even have the ability to influence the politics at the top, yet they suffer the consequences. People should be focusing on survival and recovery, not whether or not their leaders agree with them on every issue.

Warped ‘woke’

“Wokeness” may have begun as a noble a concept, but it jumped the shark when proponents co-opted HR departments and government entities into enforcing and imposing increasingly loony leftist concepts under the banner of being “woke.” Sorry, but the concept has become so warped that it no longer has any value.

Supporting Sweeney

Why would the Democrats stoop so low to bash Sydney Sweeney for endorsing jeans. This is as bad as it gets.

Gulf of Mexico

WLOX‘s Will Polston should have been fired on the spot when he injected his political opinion into a story about vibrio Monday evening by using a made-up name for the Gulf of Mexico. It was incredibly unprofessional and inexcusable.

Texas redistricting

Texas goes through redistricting every 2 years, it’s nothing new based on the head count. Democrats ran away to Illinois to complain. Instead of don’t mess with Texas, Texas is a mess.
