The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Biloxi Sun Herald

Sun Herald readers weigh in on local and national topics.

Enough!

Biloxi does not need any more casinos. There are already too many. Most people who frequent them are big fat losers. What kind of message does this send to our children?

Not gonna build itself

I do not know much about road or bridge construction, but I do know that if no one is working to complete a job it won’t get completed. There continues to be minimal activity on any given day at the County Farm Road to Diamondhead project. But foot-dragging seems to be the MO for other projects such as the widening project at 49 and Canal Road as well as the repair job on I-10 east of Lorraine Road. Who is responsible for the incredible lack of urgency? With so little rain over the last few weeks don’t tell me it’s the weather.

Optics

Quite a look to be firing federal employees left and right at the same time you’re announcing the spending of $200 million on a White House ballroom.

A book

Kamala Harris is going to be releasing a book about her presidential bid? I’m not sure I can imagine a more useless waste of trees and ink.

They wanted him?

Seen Joe Biden lately? And to think, Democrats wanted another four years of that. The poor man seems pretty much unable to walk and chew gum at the same time.

A bad look

Had he been re-elected, Joe Biden would have another three-plus years as president. In other news, he took the stage Thursday at the National Bar Association Gala, and within seconds, was pretty much completely lost.

Kind of quiet

Not hearing much lately about the many tariff deals the president has managed to secure. Wonder why that is.

President TACO

President Trump has been forced by Mexico’s president to extend his previous tariff freeze by another 90 days. Previously, Trump swore he wasn’t going to extend it, but after one phone call with the Mexican president, he folded.

Climate change

A warming planet’s air holds more moisture, leading to stronger hurricanes and heavier rainfalls. Conversely, it can create hotter and drier weather, which can lead to wildfire conditions. The worst of both worlds. The recent Texas tragedy had the Guadalupe River rise 29 feet overnight, resulting in many deaths. Our President is ignoring these plain-to-see consequences of a warming planet and advocating a return to a fossil fuel-based economy. His policies are discouraging investments in wind and solar power and the transition to EV vehicles. Our country is a laggard, not a leader, in the worldwide effort to combat climate change.

Good luck, NYC

Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was asked point-blank if he wishes he hadn’t called to defund the police. He doesn’t say “yes.”

Iran money

The money sent to Iran during the Obama Biden administration was money that belonged to Iran and was frozen for decades. It was part of negotiations regarding four hostages.
