FILE -- Attorney General Pam Bondi speaks during a news conference at the White House in Washington, June 27, 2025. For months, Bondi promised the release of documents on the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein that could reveal damaging details, drumming up anticipation over the files, long a source of speculation and conspiracy theories -- but on Monday, July 7, a memo by the Justice Department undercut her own statements. Epstein list

So the MAGA Attorney General said on FOX News that the Epstein list was on her desk. Now, suddenly, it doesn’t exist. Gosh, that’s an incredible surprise, huh?

I’m sure it’s all legit

You mean to tell me the administration in charge when Jeffrey Epstein “killed himself” has now determined there was no list of clients? After that administration’s AG said it was on her desk?

Imagine

Just close your eyes and enjoy imagining the response from the MAGA wing if this Epstein announcement was made by the Biden administration.

Devastation

After watching the footage of the devastated landscape in the Hill Country of Texas, I’m surprised the number of dead isn’t in the thousands.

Someone is at fault

I don’t particularly care who it is, but someone needs to pay for what happened in Texas. Whether federal, state or local, don’t go telling me that somebody didn’t drop the ball.

Not his fault

To blame the flash floods in Texas on President Trump is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. It is also stupid to blame the sad and unfortunate loss of life on the president. Neither FEMA nor the weather forecasters could have prevented the flash flood that has been happening for hundreds of years. Hopefully, we have learned from this disaster and will develop better warning systems for flood prone areas.

Bury, then blame

Now isn’t the time for blame. Let’s continue the search for the missing and comfort the victims’ families. There will be plenty of time to assign blame.

Socialism

The Democratic party has totally slipped past just being progressives and are now in full blown socialism. New York City will be the icing on the cake for them and there will be no turning back. As government takes over more and more of your lives the more you depend on on it for health care, food and housing. Is this what you want?

OBBB

Here are some of the news headlines that claim Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) is responsible for. 1) Texas flooding (NWS forecasting staff reduced), 2) Thousands of people loosing health care coverage, 3) Eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits may not happen, 4) Rural hospitals closing, 5) Adverse impacts on students and universities, 6) Measles cases at all-time high, 7) CDC “birth control” staff eliminated, and 8) “Killer bees” swarming. To be fair, Killer Bees swarming may not be a result of the OBBB.

Big and ugly

If the tax and spending bill that just passed Congress is so wonderful, why does it require a campaign-style trek around the country to drum up support? A good bill, one that actually helps the people, would generate its own public support.

Work requirement

If you’re capable of working for a living, then you should work.

Deer Island

Maybe next year we should have the firefighters on Deer Island before it goes up in smoke ... again.

Great shows

The Ocean Springs and Biloxi fireworks shows were fantastic. Kudos to everyone involved, including the firefighters.
