What gives, NYC?
I’m a transplanted Pittsburgh Yankee who has joyfully lived half my life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have always believed the Coast is not truly the “real” South, and maybe that is why I love it so. We are a melting pot of different races, colors, creeds, national origins, religions and, yes, political views. I feel we are more a traditional people, and with that said, I just cannot fathom the clear thinking good people of New York City voting for an avowed Islamist to lead their city as mayor? Have they forgotten 9-11 and the aftermath so quickly? Shameful.
Costs
If DOGE was serious about saving money, it would be looking at the cost of supply charges to government agencies, especially healthcare products. Corporations can charge for items like tissue and band aids way above market prices. Why? Because they can. Salaries pale in comparison to products. Just check your itemized hospital bills. Medicare and Medicaid pays these prices so you may not be paying attention, but if you are paying privately, you would. It’s call greedy capitalism. Be woke.
Short-term rentals
Now that Pass Christian has new leadership, it is time to reassess the number of short term rentals allowed. Today there are at least 100 short-term rentals in a 3-block radius in downtown Pass Christian, and it’s about to double. We need people to have families and live here, not just visitors. Mayor and aldermen please reconsider. We want our small town back.
Securix
Well, it looks like the Dixie Mafia is alive and still kicking. I’ll guarantee there’s a lot more to this story, the judge sealed it giving time for other members to wash their hands.
Red flag
Listen up, Cleveland Browns owner. Shadeur Sanders was caught twice speeding at over 100 mph in the city. If you don’t think that isn’t a major red flag, then that would explain why your team is the joke of the NFL. It is time to make the Saints a good offer to take him off your hands. They have a lot of experience in hiring losers.
‘Obliterated’
The second the word “obliterated” came out of President Art of the Deal’s mouth, I knew it would be a matter of days, at most, before we found out that he was full of it. Again.
Social Security
While I expect those who read the newspaper to be thoughtful and informed, I am dismayed by how often basic compassion is overlooked in Sound Off. In response to Tuesday’s complaint about Social Security, it’s worth remembering why the program exists. Of course Social Security would have more money if it didn’t support widows raising families, children who lose working parents, or elderly dependents when their caregiver dies. But would cutting off these people make you feel better? Social Security is more than a retirement fund — it’s a safety net for those who need it most.
