PBS

I like much of PBS content and have contributed in the past. I am libertarian. The annual budget is $373 million dollars, $70 million of which is provided by taxpayers. The Democrats just spent $1.5 billion for a failed campaign. How about those donors contribute their money to offset taxpayer contributions to a politically biased organization, as the PBS political message/manipulation is a vastly more efficient and impactful tool for the liberal agenda.

Rules or no?

I saw that Trump store trailer in the Long Beach Harbor parking lot, just a few feet from a No Mobile Vending sign. I’ve always said there is a separate justice system for the rich and powerful. Where is your anger people?

Greed

Joe Kennedy died in a WWII mission, JFK fought the war in a PT boat, and Ted Williams flew fighter jets in the Korean War — just a few examples of the past wealthy, successful people who felt an obligation to serve. Our president evaded the Vietnam War draft with bone spurs and uses the office to enrich himself with meme coins and golden sneakers. We’re back in the 80s movie “Wall Street,” where “Greed is Good.” Watch NPR’s “Brief but Spectacular” segment with author Michael Lewis on what he’s learned from studying our current elites. And, remembering President Trump’s golden apartment, the odd thing is the forgotten story in the Torah, Bible, and the Quran about Moses and the golden calf.

School registration

Why is Jackson County making student registration so difficult? Not everybody in the school district has good internet or the ability to download forms and documents then upload them. Nobody answers the phone when calling the number given for problems. Go back to registering at the schools which was much less complicated and efficient.

Judicial overreach?

The person whining about the “liberal” judicial branch has mistakenly asserted that the same is setting policy for the executive branch. No doubt this fallacious comment was caused by brain washing dealt out by FOX entertainment. The truth is that the judicial branch is simply deciding whether the executive orders and demands of the corrupt executive branch comport with the law and constitution. Often the judges ruling against the executive have been appointed by Reagan, Trump or one of the Bushes. Those presidents, while largely incompetent, were by no means liberal. The decisions by the judicial branch have for the most part been spot on.

Legislature

I read with dismay the childish behavior of our state legislature this week. Millions of federal dollars earmarked for coastal projects were not allocated. These are “use it or loose it funds.” Partisan and non-partisan foolish bickering is rampant in the Republican-controlled senate, house of representatives, and executive branch. This is much more than an embarrassment, the petty bickering will have a profound negative impact on vital coastal projects. Our coastal legislative delegation tried to free up the desperately needed funds, but the majority of other legislators blocked their efforts. Shame on them. Please grow up, act like civil adults, and help the voting public that placed their trust in you.

Keep the nickel

In response to coin conundrum, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent was not worried about the cost of the nickel because they can bring the cost down using other alloys to make it. They are not able to do that with the penny.
