About time

I applaud Ocean Springs for voting out their mayor who did not serve in the interest of his constituents. See how easy that can be? So, let’s vote out all the incumbents in Congress who vote party politics over the Constitution.

Public libraries

My wife and I love our local libraries. We have used them extensively, and I use Hoopla, our digital library, almost every day. So do many other residents, including children. Libraries used to exist only in the homes of the wealthy. Public libraries are open to everyone, but they will continue to exist only if we continue to support them with our taxes. I am happy to do so.

Help!

This is a request to Matt Haley, Sheriff of Harrison County, the chief law enforcement official: Can your department start enforcing the traffic laws on Highway 49 inside the city limits? It’s painfully obvious that the city police have put their ticket books away. Sit at any traffic light and watch at least 4-8 vehicles blatantly run the light. Same with stop signs. And it’s not just passenger vehicles, but tractor trailer rigs and dump trucks. Please Matt, help the people that elected you get this under control.

Nothing to cheer about

I was just wondering why people are cheering at the end of the stock market bell when the stock market closed 5% down in one day. There’s nothing good about people’s investments going down. Stop clapping and cheering about it. My 401(k) is being jeopardized.

Stupid tariffs

Not one economist thinks that tariffs are a good idea in the short term, and Trump won’t be around in the long term to keep them going. He’s no economist. He’s not even much of a dealmaker.

Waiting game

It would take major manufacturers, such as steel mills and automakers, about four years to move manufacturing from foreign countries to the United States. By then Trump‘s second term ends. Therefore, it makes no sense to spend billions of dollars building new plants in the United States when even four years of lost revenue would be less costly for these companies.

Great work

Sure, he ran the economy into the ditch, and yeah, we’re making war plans over insecure phone apps and, sure, measles is back from the dead ... but at least we’ve got the Gulf of America and the two boys that were playing girls sports aren’t any longer.
