President Musk
If you are alarmed at Elon Musk’s ability to quash a spending bill by merely posting on X, then consider his endorsement of the AfD party in Germany.
Good fruitcake
My wife and I are in our 80s. We grew up around fruitcakes but never met one we liked until about a decade ago. That’s when we got a bite of a fruitcake from The Pecan House in Gulfport. Now we are eager to buy one every Christmas season. Better get there early. They sell out fast.
Memories of fruitcakes past
I like fruitcake. Don’t eat as much as I used to, but they bring back old, good memories. When I was a kid we’d be out in the cold all morning sawing firewood on the farm. When we’d come in, a big slab of calorie-rich fruitcake hit the spot. Get a really good one full of candied fruit, nuts and other tasty morsels. Hard to beat.
Here’s the trick
I love fruitcakes. For those who don’t, I recommend you try one of the more expensive brands. I personally like even the cheaper ones, especially when I let them soak in brandy for a few days.
Birds love them, too
Fruitcakes can actually be very good if they are made correctly. My sister-in-law made excellent ones that were moist, nutty and fruity and I miss them now that she is gone. By the way, don’t throw the bad ones out, wild birds love them.
Exit 41
Why can’t folks in charge get that bottleneck at Exit 41 completed? It’s a total mess and totally uncalled for. All it has accomplished is to cause confusion and congestion for everyone who has to drive through it. Try driving through that mess when it’s raining at night.
Death penalty
To the writer of “Compassion,” you could not have said it any better. I totally agree that no human has that right to make a decision to execute a person, no matter how serious the crime. If one really thinks about it, for example in a case involving murder, if it’s illegal for that person to kill someone, then what gives us the right to turn around and say it’s OK to then kill the murderer by execution?
