Now he cares?
There have been dozens of death penalty cases resulting in execution since Joe Biden took office and I’m wondering where his Catholic conscience was for the last four years and why it showed up now at the eleventh hour. We can’t get rid of this guy fast enough. Shame that, in a completely different way, the replacement is even worse
At least we see him
Donald Trump hasn’t even taken office yet and he’s already a dictator, disaster and a tyrant. Well, at least he’s not hiding somewhere in a basement like President Biden.
More name changes?
President Obama rightly restored the name “Denali” to Mount McKinley to honor the indigenous people who were there for many generations before Alaska became a state. My research says President McKinley never stepped foot in Alaska. Donald Trump wants to change it back and it smells like white supremacy to me.
Non-denominational quote
In this time of political turmoil and discord in much of the world, this non-denominational quote by Barbara Bush seems appropriate: “Never lose sight of the fact that the most important yardstick of your success will be how you treat other people.“ I pray that our leaders and those that influence our leaders keep this in mind, not just at this time of year, but always.
School segregation
It should be no surprise that, according to recent research, private K-12 schools in southern states are increasing racial segregation. That was their purpose in the first place. And even when that isn’t their purpose now, they still have that effect because of the great income disparity between whites and people of color. Most families of color can’t afford to pay for both public schools (taxes) and private schools (tuition).
Biden’s Cabinet
Why was there was no bashing of President Biden’s Cabinet picks? Because President Biden selected qualified and experienced people that can pass a security clearance.
Puerto Rico before Canada
The people of Puerto Rico have long deserved to be the 51st state, yet Donald Trump is talking about acquiring Canada, like that could actually happen. All Puerto Rico got from him is disrespect, a dismal response to a natural disaster, some high flying paper towels and a racist and uncalled for “joke” from his hired speaker at a rally.
