Sound Off: Dec. 18, 2024
Romney is right
Retiring Republican Sen. Mitt Romney got it right. The Democrats handed Donald Trump the election, despite his numerous criminal activities. The Democratic far-left positions on immigration and being out of touch with real economic pains of average Americans was too much for moderate Democratic voters.
Music by the Angels
There is a 1950 country song “Music by the Angels”, written by Arthur Altman and Marty Symes. The first lyric says, “I asked my mom, how I would know when the right one came along. She said, ‘Son, you’ll know, it’ll strike a mighty chord! You’ll hear music by the angels, and lyrics by the Lord.’” Seventy-five years later that’s quaint by modern standards but it shouldn’t be outdated.
Innocent until proven guilty
This is to “At it Again” who is betting the individual who was arrested again with similar allegations will not serve a sentence. Reminding you that he is innocent until proven guilty so stop assuming guilt when the man has not even been to trial on these latest allegations.
A good spot
I suggest that Neco’s Family Market build their grocery store on the commercial property on Aloha Drive opposite the Fire Department building. What a great opportunity for development in Diamondhead.
Birthright citizenship
During his campaign, Donald Trump was adamant that he would work to end birthright citizenship for the children of tourists, illegal aliens and others not permanently and lawfully residing in the U.S. That’s exactly what should be done to follow existing immigration laws that have been on the books for generations. American citizenship and its benefits belong to those legally born here. Any other birth begins at illegal and illegitimate for citizenship. This matches all other countries in the world, so it isn’t unique, outdated or insensitive. Only the Biden administration ignored it.
School curriculum
The nominee for Secretary of Education wants to take out radical ideology. Why not just teach the basics? As for history, just the facts without omissions.
CEO killing
If you are one of those praising the vigilante murderer of the United Healthcare CEO, where do you draw the line? Is it justified to kill any CEO because they are greedy and unsympathetic to your cause? How about shooting your landlord in the back because he raised your rent or evicted you? It’s hard to believe anyone can think this cowardly act was OK.
Why they’re angry
FBI Director Christopher Wray is so hated by Republicans not because he didn’t do his job, but because he did. The culprit just happened to be the president, who shouldn’t be above the law, but as it turns out he actually is. Donald Trump could have completely avoided the raid of his home if he had turned over stolen documents as he was asked to for months.
Not just the loser
Loser signs? Actually, both judicial candidates’ signs are still all around. The blame is equal.
Wrong path
Pre-election polls said something like 60% thought the country was going in the wrong direction. What direction are we going when people call a cold blooded murderer a hero and donate to pay for his defense? The health care CEO murder can’t be justified, no matter what he did.
Real life
I watch these Medieval shows all the time about lords and chieftains. It seems like we want to recreate that lifestyle where we work for rich people who throw us scrapes from their tables and control the laws.
Obama’s fault?
I was gobsmacked to see that someone commented in Sound Off that Barack Obama is responsible for Mohammed being the favorite baby name in England and Wales. That only suggests that there are numerous Muslim people in those countries.
