Protect him

The reports of the several investigations into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Pennsylvania are beginning to reveal an utter abysmal mishandling of his protection by the Secret Service. The Mar-a-Lago attempt protection was only slightly better. Trump is also the known target of Iran for assassination. The negligence, ineptitude and nonchalance by the senior levels of the agency border on criminal. Theirs is a no-fail mission but we don’t have months and years to resolve the many issues. This is decrepit government bureaucracy on display with catastrophe waiting in the wings.

One or the other

Should I vote for someone who climbed their way up from fast-food worker, to lawyer, to legislator, and then vice president, or should I vote for someone with multiple past and ongoing business failures and myriad other unflattering actions.

Say the words

It is outrageous that journalists keep blaming bad things on “climate change.” Change can be good, bad, or indifferent. What is causing these terrible meteorological events, and more, is global warming. That’s the change that’s responsible for increasingly powerful and frequent storms, heat waves, forest fires, infectious diseases, etc. Say it.

Priorities

Isn’t it odd that Congress passed a last-minute stop-gap spending bill, just before it was time for them to break for vacation? Seems they have their priorities straight; it’s more important to take a vacation break than it is to stay in session and work on a long-term solution. So that’s the secret to get the do-nothing partisan Congress to function – wait until it’s time for recess, then introduce the bill. They will do anything to ensure their vacations are not disrupted.

No outrage

All the outrage over people getting welfare, but none for the theft of welfare money by politicians and their cronies. Seems like our moral values need examining.

Pay us back

Are we supposed to feel sorry for Bret Favre because he has Parkinson’s disease? He needs to pay us back first. He is still making excuses for stealing welfare money.

You’ll be OK

Don’t worry, Florida, you are a red state and surely the House will quickly send aid. Not to mention Donald Trump. He’ll be there to throw you some paper towels and do some photo ops.

Say it right

Why are people calling this hurricane “huh-LEEEN?” The name is French, and it’s pronounced “huh-LANE.”

Voter ID

Requiring a voter ID is not the issue. Requiring additional proof of citizenship at the polls is the issue. Some of y’all deliberately try to mislead an issue by changing the the topic. This only works on the cognitively impaired.

Don’t go

The First Amendment allows for different opinions. You may not agree with the movie about former President Donald Trump but Mr D’Sousa has the right to produce and distribute the movie. Simple solution, don’t go see it if you disagree. Banning such movies reeks of totalitarianism.

One-issue candidate

Vice President Harris is a one issue candidate. She is running on the issue of abortion. She has no public comment or policy statement about the economy, Illegal immigration, foreign policy, crime. She has flip-flopped on fracking and other crucial issues. Just what does she stand for and what will be her position on these issues?

Homelessness

The homelessness article helped to shine the light on our local problem. The problem, unfortunately has become one that virtually every city on the country has to address. For some, like those out west and larger cities all over the country, it is almost epidemic. For many of those, especially the larger and sanctuary cities, the additional influx of millions of illegals has taken limited resources away from the homeless problem, where those with mental or drug problems as well as many veterans, most likely with PTSD, have a dire need for those resources that are now stretched too thin. Fortunately here on the coast, that is not yet adding to the homeless situation.
