Francine

Thanks to all the first responders across the Mississippi Coast for helping keep us all safe and secure during the storm.

Eating. The. Dogs.

Law enforcement and City Officials in Springfield, Ohio, went on record that Donald Trump’s statement during the debate that migrants are eating neighborhood pets was not true. The city stated there is no credible or detailed report to support the lies. Sen. Vance, lead storyteller and promoter of the lie, refused to admit his story was not truthful. This is one of over 50 questionable statements Trump delivered.

Dishonorable strategy

At a recent FOX News town hall, Donald Trump cast doubt on the honesty of his upcoming debate with Vice President Harris. Of course he did. That’s one of his strategies. He always casts doubt on upcoming debates, votes, and trials so that if he does well he can brag that he did well in spite of the debate, trial, or vote being rigged against him (even if it wasn’t). And if he does poorly he can whine that he warned us that the situation was rigged (even if it wasn’t). It’s a clever strategy. Sometimes it’s effective. It’s always dishonorable.

Gun control

I never raised any teenagers so maybe my opinion is not valid, but I have enough sense to know that a machine gun is not an appropriate Christmas gift for a 13-year-old. Now I will repeat something I wrote to this column a year and a half ago. No one will suffer if assault weapons are banned, but many more will suffer if they aren’t.

Do they believe it?

When Donald Trump and Sen. Vance repeat easily verifiable lies, do they actually believe them? Or are they just saying whatever they think will trick a few more folks into voting for them?

A low bar

Vice President Harris’ performance in the most recent debate only looks good when compared to President Biden’s performance.

Well done

Kudos to the many weathermen and weatherladies for keeping us fully informed as Hurricane Francine approached.
