Heat check

It is such a shame that the gym at HCHS is not properly maintained, especially with athletic activities being held there and the air conditioning not working. We watch teams play in overly heated facilities. Why has it been almost three years with no functioning cooling? It is an embarrassment. HCHS seems to not be considered a priority in any area. I must say the administration there is great and I’m sure they are doing the best they can. What a shame to see our teams not be shown the respect they have earned.

A break

Kudos to The Sun Herald for running twelve Sound Offs with only one relating to Donald Trump or President Biden. Please, let’s have more of this.

Shameful start

I hope Ole Miss and Alabama are proud of themselves for playing wildly overmatched opponents in Week 1. LSU can hold its head up high, even though it lost. At least the Tigers were playing a formitable opponent.

Try something new

The English language has some 170,000 words. Why, then, does nearly every protester chant, “What do we want? When do we want it?“ Come up with something new, for crying out loud.

Immigration

Just think if the true Americans, the Native Americans would have said, “we don’t need anymore people. We have more than enough.” Where would we all be?

Electoral College

If presidential candidates were elected by popular vote, we would always have a Democratic president. The large population states like California and New York and the northeast would decide the presidency every time. That’s why the Electoral College was established. Each state has a fair vote.

Death row

Give fentanyl to the prisoners facing execution. There is a hefty supply and it works well.

Hostages

What am I missing? I don’t understand why the Israelis are blamed for the hostages being killed? Hamas in Gaza are the ones that attacked Isreal and took all those hostages. They are alone are responsible for their deaths. The citizens of Gaza should also be held responsible. After all it was them that let Hamas build tunnels and collect munitions under their city. Hamas wanted no part of any cease fire deal that didn’t benefit them.

Brainwashed

We have been programmed to believe that any gun-control regulations are against the Constitution.

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

This statement has become the Holy Grail, the 11th Commandment. It refers to militia, which have been replaced with the police and military. Militias are a band of civilians who band together to protect. Now we have kids and mentally ill persons with guns. All because lobbyists pay our politicians to support gun sales.

Be careful

If you are going to question the vice president’s ability to put a sentence together, you should probably not demonstrate your own lack of competency in that area while doing so. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. just did an interview with Chris Cuomo that was rife with grammatical errors and incomplete thoughts. A couple of sentences were an incoherent mess.

Cat lady

I am a childless cat lady because I chose not to have children and chose to rescue cats (and dogs). Where does a combative, know-it-all Senator in office for less than two years get off telling me I have less of a stake in this country than someone with kids, but no cats?

College enrollment

Getting rid of Affirmative Action (aka DEI) will not help you get into college. You still must qualify with grades and have the money to attend. Minorities and immigrants will rise to the challenge like we always have.
