Coast schools
Thank you for your recent article concerning student test scores in Mississippi. The article did a good job showing how well our students are doing on the Gulf Coast, and it’s clear that our region is outperforming any region in the state. I dug a little deeper through the Department of Education’s website. I was delighted to see the reason for the Ocean Springs and Long Beach School Districts’ commendation from the state — they were the only two school districts in the state to score in the overall top 10 of school districts for all subjects tested (math, science, English, and history). Even deeper than that, the Ocean Springs School District’s total percentile of students who scored “proficient” or “advanced” was just a bit higher than the Long Beach School District’s total percentile. Go Bearcats; Go Greyhounds; Go Coast! Well done to all.
Taxes for all
Reading Vice President Harris’ tax program simply takes your breath away. Trillions of dollars of new taxes, but the middle class won’t be touched? When you tax anything like unrealized gains (money you “made” on paper but weren’t actually paid) it’s just theft. Taxes for those making over $400,000 is a direct tax on the middle class, too. Given the rate of Bidenomics’ inflation, that number falls into the upper portion of that middle class. Give it another four years and it will be the middle of the middle class. It’s these people who fund most of the small businesses. What happens when you tax these people out of the money needed to create jobs? Worse, there is no hint of any cost reductions in government spending. This isn’t a tax program, it’s piracy.
Clueless
Vice President Harris is the new darling of the Democratic party. Just like President Biden four years ago. Now the border is wide open, cost of living is unaffordable and the economy and inflation is killing us all.
Same old, same old
Someone without an original thought has suddenly revived the tired “hiding in the basement” comment for a new generation of voters in case they missed it the first, second or third time around. This was a ridiculously stupid phrase way back when and it’s now just stale and irrelevant. But here’s a totally original statement for you. If you think Donald Trump respects democracy, the Constitution or you, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
Trouble in South Florida
Extreme weather and sea level rise are so bad in Miami that the red algae bloom started covering the walls at Mar-a-Lago this week. The staff says it’s a normal occurrence and just a little thing when you’re dealing with tiny hands around the house.
Voter ID
When people first register to vote, they must show their ID so that election judges know that you are who you say you are. Therefore, when you go to vote, they already have all of your information. You just show them your free voter registration card. When Republicans do not want certain people to vote, they say they need more current ID. No, they don’t need it. Certain forms of ID cost money, and some poor people do not have the extra money for a gun card or whatever. So when Vice President Harris says she is against voter ID, she is talking about the extra ID which some states now require to stop people from voting Democratic. Only a non-thinking person would think that she means the original ID which, of course, election officials have to verify before they give you a voter registration card.
What Trump knows
Donald Trump, in his businesses, seemed to always revert to bankruptcy. It’s the common thread throughout his businesses .He has hidden behind that and walked away happy unlike those workers in his businesses who were the losers
