Our poor roads
Hey Biloxi leaders, Cruisin’ The Coast is coming up soon, and being a good host is very important. These guests won’t be happy with the state of Eisenhower and Beauvoir at Highway 90. Can the surface of these heavily used roads be finished in time? And don’t get me started about the rubble-filled parking areas near the Biloxi Town Green.
Thrown out
After your entire life being a Democrat in Washington D.C. and they throw you out like a piece of trash. Never holding a job other than a politician. Not leaving standing tall on your terms.
Gov. Walz
It is not the service of Gov. Tim Waltz that is in question. He served honorably over 20 years in the National Guard and was entitled to retirement. It is the embellishment and lying about his service that is problematic. He did not retire as a Sergeant Major, but put the rank on his congressional coin. He did not carry a weapon into a combat zone. He did not misspeak, he lied.
No interviews
I’m making a common sense assumption on why Vice President Harris hasn’t held an interview yet. It has only been three weeks since President Biden withdrew from the race. She had to step in quickly to create a campaign as the Democrat running for president. She immediately was flooded with huge donations and has support of the delegates, she had to choose a VP and travel across the country holding rallies with tens of thousands of people attending. She will hold interviews, she is not scared, she is just very busy.
Here comes the money
The opioid settlement money is coming to the states. Seventy percent will be controlled by the state legislators. This is why we need to pay attention to who is elected locally. It’s not enough to vote for them, we need to hold them accountable.
Mary Mahoney’s
On the slim chance that Mary Mahoney’s goes bankrupt as stated in the recent Sound Off, they would have no one to blame but themselves. If they hadn’t done the crime, the Sun Herald wouldn’t be reporting on it. The writer sounds like they have been reading the “blame anyone and everyone else” chapter of the Donald Trump playbook. There was nothing sensational about the story in question. It was just the facts of the situation so far, and writer Anita Lee has always been a great asset to this paper.
Immigration
Anyone should realize that the flow of illegal immigrants and the strain on our social services is completely unsustainable.
Private insurance
As a past presidential candidate, Vice President Harris supported Medicare for All, replacing private insurance. Estimates are for this to cost trillions! The mainstream media better question her on this policy before it’s too late.
It’s confusing
Both Gov. Walz, after 24 years, and Sen. Vance, after the required four years, received honorable discharges from the military and there’s some kind of scandal about that? Yet a draft-dodger receiving six questionable deferments is OK? How weird is that?
To be accurate
Donald Trump is once again showing his ignorance, or willingness to lie for political advantage, by calling Vice President Harris a communist. Communists believe that a hierarchical, unelected government should strictly control factories, agriculture, salaries, and prices. Social Democrats, by contrast, believe in the vigorous competition called for by capitalism, but they also believe that the government should step in to prevent any abuses and neglect that arise from uninhibited competition for money. Harris is a social democrat. Capitalism? Yes. Social intelligence and compassion? Also yes.
So funny
There hasn’t been much fun in politics in the last few years, but as a “rabid” Donald Trump hater and someone who lets him live “rent free” in my head, I must say that watching him have a nuclear meltdown over Vice President Harris is just pure delight. A word to his advisors, if you want him to stop being laser-focused on her ethnicity and crowd size, quit telling him to stop it. Tell him to do it even more. It’s as if they don’t know this child at all.
Heartwarming
I loved the article about “Kai’s Give Back Gala.” Fifteen-year-old Kai Davis is a lovely young lady whose heart is as beautiful as she is. Lately, the news seems to be filled with so much anger and hate. Reading about Miss Davis’s mission to help others and founding her Big Hearts Little Hands nonprofit at the age of 8 reminds me that there is still so much good in the world, and that is the kind of news I want to know more about. Thank you Kai for your big heart. I’m not going to be able to go to your Give Back Gala this Saturday night at the Biloxi Visitor Center, but I will definitely be contacting your foundation to see how I can help.
