Changing ways

All right. That’s enough for this lifelong 70-year-old Republican. I’m not voting for a grown man who wears makeup and claims he’s prettier than a woman. That’s just weird.

Liberal logic

A recent writer says that there is no flood of immigrants because he has not personally seen it. By that logic the flood of fentanyl is not happening because I haven’t seen it. The increase in human trafficking is not happening because I haven’t seen any. “Liberal logic” is my favorite oxymoron.

The future?

Beware Coast residents. Before long you will be dealing with what Pass Christian residents now are facing. Your seawall will be covered, your beach access limited, and as you drive down Highway 90 you will be looking at an ugly concrete wall instead of beach, pelicans, herons and seagulls.

Trump’s actions

WebMD is a respected site for medical information. It says that some of the characteristics of schizophrenia are feeling or believing things that aren’t real, speaking nonsense and having trouble with memory or reasoning. Sounds like Donald Trump to me. For example, three and a half years later he still feels and believes he won the 2020 election in spite of no significant evidence for that belief and a mountain of official evidence against it.

Feeling skeptical

The FTC says they will put a stop to fake online reviews? This is the same FTC that can’t stop bogus phone calls? Or online scams? To say that I’m skeptical is the understatement of the year.

Tax cut

This Sound Off is to set the record straight regarding the Trump tax cut. I personally fall in the middle class of Mississippi according to the definition on Google. When the tax cuts took affect during the Trump administration my income taxes dropped from 33% to 25%. This proves that all taxpayers benefited from this legislation. Another aspect of the tax cut was the economy under Trump. It was absolutely on fire until COVID. You could not go in a small business where you did not see a sign saying help wanted.

Stocking up

I’ve noticed eggs and milk have gone down a lot in price. It’s called supply and demand. If you don’t buy as much, the price will go down. That’s how I buy my coffee. It goes on sale and I stock up. It’s what I learned from my mother.

What we need

If I were running for president I would change income tax for everyone to pay equally a flat 10 percent across the board of their income. Free local college, but only with a minimum test score. But not all universities. What’s the difference if you’re going to forgive loans? Invest in road and bridge projects that create jobs. Secure borders. My ancestors are immigrants from 1800s but entered legally. It can be done. Curious what other people think we need.
