Still the boss

President Biden is the boss. He’s not like you and me. He is running the country, not his mouth. Record amounts of drugs are being ceased at the border, fewer illegal migrants are crossing the border, the economy is showing positive growth, and reduction of inflation are just a few of his latest successes.

We need both

Dear Republican Party, in the 2028 presidential contest please put forth an admirable person as well as platform. One without the other is not acceptable. Donald Trump’s platform has some good ideas in it, but he is such a liar and exaggerator that I do not trust him. And like President Biden, his mental processes seem to be unraveling.

Should have stayed

As a Battalion Command Sergeant Major it was wrong for Gov. Walz not to join his own troops in Iraq. The highest ranking enlisted in the unit should always set the example.

So long, friend

So sad to hear Wally Amos, the creator of Famous Amos cookies, has passed on to his final reward. Wally and I were almost inseparable for many years. Train trips, extended car trips, many trips to Walmart, during nights watching a movie, trips to the fridge between meals. Famous Amos’ cookies, especially with pecans (these should have been a Schedule 1 drug) were my go-to comfort snack. Unfortunately, he sold the company and the new owner fooled around with the recipe Wally’s Mom invented. They added preservatives to increase profitability, and the taste changed. We parted ways. Truth be told, Famous Amos was an iconic American entrepreneur and will be sorely missed.

Not new

To the person who thinks wildfires on the Gulf Coast are proof of global warming; we have always had wildfires on the Gulf Coast. I was a County Forester for the Mississippi Forestry Commission for 18 years, starting in 1985. My crew responded to between 150 and 300 wildfires a year over that time. This one that made the news is not uncommon. Our forests will burn. After that I worked for a couple different Federal Agencies and we responded to almost as many wildfires over the next 18 years. I’ve lived in south Mississippi for 50 years and the climate doesn’t seem any different to me. As for the Gulf waters rising; what is underwater now that wasn’t 50 years ago?

Traffic

When will Gulfport administration hire a certified traffic engineer? Please synchronize the lights and help with traffic flow. Secondly, traffic enforcement is a joke. People speed and run red lights like they don’t exist. If I get hit and injured because someone ran the light, I will name the city of Gulfport in the lawsuit. Maybe if more folks would do that they would hire more police to write tickets.

Our vice president

After three and a half years, Vice President Kamala Harris is going to fix President Biden’s border, ecnomy, riots and foreign policy on Day 1 of her administration? Where was she since 2021? Hiding in the basement with Joe?
