The real threat
In response to the Sound Off “A real threat,” I am a staunch Independent with no political ties. In my opinion the real threat was the way Sen. Mitch McConnell stacked the Supreme Court deck so it would be more favorable to one party’s ideology. Remember he refused to put President Obama’s nominee up for a vote. In my opinion the Supreme Court has been plagued with political bias for many years.
Laughing
Laughing is not weird, it’s normal. Laughing at weirdness is a natural response when there’s no other logical way to respond.
Experience?
I thought experience as a public official went out the window with Donald Trump, who had absolutely no experience in government before becoming president. He clearly did not know how our government works. I bet to this day he still has not read the Constitution, but why should he? He has been clear he does not believe in it and is not going to follow it.
Cultivate the trades
Back in 2017, I read that one agriculture/residential equipment dealer’s No. 1 complaint that it was virtually impossible to hire shop help with any real knowledge, or keep them if they did. He complained the 18-30 year age group has no skills. That problem is only exponentially worse today in repair shops, particularly auto or home and garden, not to mention construction and industrial sectors. Not many youth seek out the trades and as a nation we don’t have robust education and journeyman routes to light the way.
Good one
I would like to respond more to “Something Changed,” but I just can’t top that one. And I’m still laughing too hard. I’m thanking you this morning, but I’m going to be pretty upset with you if I can’t stop laughing by bedtime.
Ageism vs. dementia
I’m 72 with a family history of Alzheimer’s disease. I used to manage a large department and prided myself on my effectiveness. I’ve retired and can still do a lot of things, but I know could not do my previous job as effectively. Being president is not for the weak or impaired.
Astronauts
Those poor astronauts stuck on the space station are starting to remind me of Gilligan’s Island. Hey, this could be a reality show.
