Democracy saved

I wonder if, from now on, the Democrat leadership will simply negate its party’s 14 million followers’ wishes if their votes select someone who is low in the polls? Sure looks that way. Yeah, buddies, they are saving democracy.

Where’s the beef?

When candidates offer their promises, they tell us how they are going to make these plans happen. Donald Trump goes on and on about what he is going to do, but never tells us how. He did the same thing when he ran for president in 2016. He had grandiose plans, but he never followed through on any of them. Where is our “ beautiful” health care plan that he promised us? It’s easy to say that things would be better if he ran them, but he did not make anything better when he was president.

What the Coast needs

We need some housing on the Gulf Coast for those age 55 and older. Mobile home communities that are safe and gated. We’re ready to downsize, but affordable housing options are limited. We’re not ready for nursing care, but require independent living. Florida has many of options, but we would prefer to stay on the Gulf Coast. Wish some developers would consider such an idea.

Our big economy

As of right now, the U.S. has the world’s biggest economy. China is second. I guess Donald Trump made a mistake when he said that he had the biggest economy, and Biden has destroyed our economy. Check it out.

Oldest candidate ever

All the concern about President Biden being too old, and saddled with cognitive decline, the same is true of Donald Trump. He’s a few years younger, but he exhibits signs of mental decline, too. In addition, physically he doesn’t appear fit.

Dangerous

Are four-wheelers allowed on Harrison County roads? There are three people on East Wortham Road with no helmets that seem to pass my house two or three times a day. Do we have enough cars patrolling these days, because it seems there were more in the past?

Are we sure he’s OK?

President Biden is being criticized for a bad debate. Did you listen to Donald Trump’s acceptance speech? The man talked about Hannibal Lecter, a fictitious serial killer who practiced cannibalism, and called him a great man who he would invite to dinner. What was that about? And it wasn’t the first time he has mentioned him.

Couldn’t vote here

Mississippi is upholding its ban on convicted felons’ right to vote. Good thing that Donald Trump doesn’t live in Mississippi, I guess.

No unity

I’m happy for Alexis Williams winning her crown, but, how are we ever going to have racial unity in the U.S. if we have a “Miss USA“ pageant and a “Miss Black USA“ pageant? The former invites ladies of all races; at the latter, white ladies are not welcome. Let’s get beyond all this divisiveness.

Red means stop?

Has a Biloxi or Gulfport police officer ever given someone a ticket for running a red light?

Living well

The fact that Keith Richards has outlived Richard Simmons has really made me rethink this whole diet-and-exercise thing.

How bad?

I can’t remember more anti-Donald Trump Sound Offs as I read in Sunday’s paper. OK, I give in. For argument’s sake, let’s assume every single one is true. Then, how bad must the last few years under Biden and Harris have been to drive millions of us poor misguided people to vote for Trump?
