Sound Off: July 16, 2024

Enough already

In light of the attempted assassination of our former president, why don’t we use the Sound Off for a more productive forum to make our state better instead of spewing hate at both candidates.

Snookered

Late-night host Jon Stewart lambasted the Biden White House and campaign for gaslighting him regarding President Biden’s enfeebled and degrading state of mental acuity. As a former Biden cheerleader and supporter, he felt betrayed by the perfidy. Glad he’s finally come around to what Republicans and others have been saying for four years, however, he’s only arrived at this awareness as it affects him.

Great speech

I would encourage all readers of the Sun Herald to listen to Nick Saban’s speech when excepting his award. It will make the world a better place. We need leaders like him in life.

Sloppy

How in the world was the perpetrator able to attain a position on a rooftop, armed with a rifle and unobstructed daylight line-of-sight 130 yards away from President Trump? That is an egregious failure of all advance team prep, protectee security measures, and should have been observed by all of the counter sniper teams that normally hover. When an area is pre-cleared for a president’s visit, all layers of protection, against all potential threats from the farthest outside perimeter to the rope line, dais, and everything else is set at pristine clear and maintained until the event is over. Clearly, wasn’t done in this instance. There better be a bi-partisan, deep investigation that answers all questions from top to bottom. No lame fog, confusion or contortions of CYA

Not perfect

As great as our Constitution is, it is not perfect. Our founders left out two important provisions that should be added. First, there must be laws dealing with corrupt Supreme Court Justices. Second, convicted felons must be disqualified from any public office.

Bill

The American Voters Eligibility Act in the House requires states to verify U.S. citizenship for voting in national elections. The Democrats are against this bill. Why? Maybe so the millions of illegals President Biden let into this country can vote.

Gun control now?

Donald Trump’s shooter had an AR-15. Stop blaming President Biden or any other Democrat. We don’t condone any non-military person owning an AR-15.
