Postal rates going up

The U.S. Postal Service is raising the prices again. Forever stamps will be 60 cents, up from 58 cents. Postcards will be 44 cents. An international letter will be $1.40, up from $1.30. This will take place on July 10th, 2022.

Gas prices

If you want to blame a political party for high gas prices, be careful who you blame. Where should we drill? In the U.S., if you own property, your rights are superseded by the mineral owner. If I have the mineral rights, I have access to your property. If you want cheaper gas, write your Republican government. Where in Mississippi would you like the refinery? I think it should be in Madison County.

School raffle

Does anyone else have a problem with a booster club for a school having a raffle where the prizes are guns? With all of the school shootings, you would think that guns would be the last thing to raffle off.

Pence deserves recognition

Mike Pence should be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his integrity in preventing the overthrow of our democracy. Donald Trump should be in a federal penitentiary for his treasonous actions resulting in the insurrection. The Republican party is undermining our democracy with its blind support of Trump, along with its obstructionism to the political process. We live in dangerous times which so many can’t perceive.

To Biden supporters

To all the die-hard Joe Biden supporters, please keep the Sound Offs coming. The rest of us enjoy a good laugh first thing in the morning.

Most serious

Republicans testifying at the January 6 hearings have made one thing perfectly clear. Then-Vice President Mike Pence saved democracy. Despite years of quietly backing a hold-power-at-any-cost President, Pence saved democracy. Those self-serving politicians who continue to refuse to accept the truth will be remembered for their lying, and inciting patriotic citizens into attempting an overthrow of the peoples duly elected president. This was the most serious event of our lives.

Makes sense

Cancer deaths have fallen by 27% over the last decade. This was partly attributed to a decline in cigarette smoking. Wow, just think if Congress had the guts to ban assault weapons of mass destruction. We might could reduce deaths by guns.
