Sound Off for June 17
Saying thank you
This Sound Off in yesterday’s paper was something everyone should do to thank them for a gift. However, sending a text message for a thank you. I think it’s very rude and very impersonal.
Expand Medicaid
Mississippi hospitals are struggling due to the state elected legislators’ refusal to accept Medicaid expansion. The Affordable Care Act has been demonized because it was nicknamed Obamacare! Are we really that stupid?
Carbon storage
Your lead article on carbon storage was excellent. It explained the process looking to the future for something that Mississippi lawmakers and others are following. It was well researched, well written and covered all the questions a reader may have at present.
Jackson County schools lawsuit
It’s a shame Jackson County taxpayers have to pay “substantially” for the misdeeds of the school superintendent.
Biden & oil refineries
President Joe Biden called on U.S. oil refiners to produce more gasoline and diesel. Really? So fossil fuels are OK now since your party is in jeopardy? You think canceling the Keystone XL pipeline and terminating federal lease sales may be a problem of your creation? Will you be asking the food industry and the landlords to reduce their prices, too?
Immigrants work hard
Informed people always knew that immigrants were vital to our healthy economy. Now the U.S. has too many jobs and not enough people to fill them. Immigrants have always done a lot of the work that white Americans don’t want to do. Do some research before writing a knee-jerk reaction to this post.
