Pascagoula flood elevation
I really do feel for the residents living in these flood zones in Pascagoula. What was affordable prior to Hurricane Katrina is no longer affordable due to these new regulations. However, it is also unfair to change the rules for anyone community and put the burden on the American taxpayer for another bailout after the next big storm.
Don’t change federal regulation
S.O.S. Pascagoula efforts on behalf of “certain lovely neighborhoods” flirts with imperiling, sanctioning the entire community‘s ability to maintain coverage from The National Flood Insurance Program. Changing federal regulations risks the ability currently enjoyed by the entire community to recover from future flooding which updated mapping predicts is unfortunately all too real.
He shot kids
Unsurprisingly, there are calls to sue the gun maker for the Uvalde, Texas school shooting. By that logic, you must also sue anyone who had contact with this teen over the past few years and failed to notice or properly address his obvious signs of distress and mental disturbance, plus his social media providers who had a message from him that he shot his grandmother and was going to shoot others. Did they call anyone or in time? On and on we can go creating a long list to pin blame, responsibility and liability, but the actual total responsibility rests with the perpetrator.
Gun control is needed
In response to “Not the guns” Sound Off: yes, it is about guns and our society. Children learn that they are “no one’s priority” when we continue to prioritize freedom to buy firearms over their lives. Why don’t we show them they matter by enacting and enforcing common sense gun control for once? And for the Sound Off-er who wrote “Be Tough”: the gunman, like others, was killed at the scene. Do you think he was afraid of being prosecuted? If so, how did that fear help anything when there are 19 children killed? Our laws should be proactive, not reactive.
Treat your pets like pets
Animals were not created to be locked up all day, chained, neutered or trained to do human’s bidding. To me, this is the opposite of an animal lover. Many are bred for sale or neglected, ending up in shelters.
