Sound Off for May 13

Editor’s note: A Sound Off published today mentions grant money received by the city of Gulfport and a golf course. The city did not give grant funding to the Grand Bear Golf Course. Rather, both entities have received funding for separate projects.

Getting liquor in MS

I am so frustrated not being able to purchase or order the wine I like because someone at ABC who doesn’t know what the customer wants. The state is losing money. Need amaretto? Go out of state. Want a wine Mississippi doesn’t carry? Go out of state. Everyone does it and the state is losing revenue. The state shouldn’t be allowed to decide what wine I’m allowed to buy anymore than they can decide what underwear I can buy or what toothpaste I can buy. Get out of my personal business. The state doesn’t belong in my liquor cabinet. It’s often out of stock. This system doesn’t work.

Ukraine port

Odesa is the third most populous city and municipality in Ukraine and a major seaport and transport center of agriculture exports . NATO and the United States cannot let Russia cut it off from the Black Sea. A task force of NATO ships led by the U.S. to include nuclear submarines, a couple of aircraft carriers to provide air cover stationed miles from the coast and numerous destroyers to escort supplies up to international territorial waters so Ukraine forces can take possession is necessary so Ukraine can continue the fight.

He’s working

You may not like the decisions President Joe Biden makes, but he is working. It is his job, and he has had the pandemic and unemployment to deal with. The pandemic is under control, and we have jobs. Now, he is working on inflation and a war. Thank God he is not obsessed with his critics and his own personal wealth.

What about the rest of Gulfport?

Amazing how we see all the improvements and grant money for downtown Gulfport on a regular basis, and $750,000 in grant money for golf tournament at Grand Bear. When are we going to see improvements and grant money for the rest of city? That overpass will cost probably as much if city were to use it to finish East Dedeaux Road, among other things.
