Sound Off for May 3
Politics in Sound Off
I’m a liberal who kept a 96-day record of Sound Offs. There were 278 neutral or local entries. There were 194 I would define as liberal leaning and 143 I would say lean conservative. This shows no significant bias by Sun Herald editors, so lets stop the blame game.
Clean up the property
The Sawyer Properties group needs to clean up and maintain the property at the corner of Victory and Courthouse Road. It is an eyesore and a catch all for trash. It is also the gateway to Gulfport High School. Not a good look.
Stealing a utility trailer
To the person or persons who entered my driveway late Saturday night or early Sunday morning and stole my utility trailer by cutting the locks off and the chain, you hurt me. You also hurt the homeless and less unfortunate people we serve at our church. The trailer was used to transport food from the Catholic Diocese to our church. Also that trailer was used to transport my mower to the church to cut our grass. You hurt me financially, but you also hurt lots of others in our community. I pray you are caught.
Student loan debt
How can any reasonable human being think that canceling student loan debt is a good policy? They might as well just take control of our bank accounts and distribute the money out. I don’t know about everyone else, but most people I know are not going to just sit there and let them keep digging into our pockets.
Cancel student loan debt
To the person who doesn’t want to eliminate student debt: The government has been scamming students for years with interest that is overly burdensome. People pay every month on time for years and still can’t get the loan paid off. By eliminating student loans, our economy will make a jump start because these people now have money in their pockets to spend. Spending always spurs on the economy. We are talking a vast amount of money because so many people have student loans.
