Why I choose Walgreens

I go to Walgreens instead of CVS. CVS is always understaffed, and managers neglect the outside property. When will businesses learn that patrons are drawn to attractive looking stores? It speaks a lot about what is inside.

Jury duty and mandatory voting

In Sunday’s paper, Mark Barabak wrote an article in favor of mandatory voting. In it he states we have mandatory jury duty, so why not mandatory voting? Well maybe California has mandatory jury duty, but we do not have it here. Here it is only mandatory for registered voters. I would love it if everyone at least 18 years old were in the jury pool. Maybe then I would get not summoned every two years. Once I got a summons two years in a row.

Colin Kaepernick

NFL football player Colin Kaepernick’s downfall was from what he thought was a fight for justice as he saw it, but I believe it was the wrong way to go about it. Kneeling for the National Anthem is not the way. My advice to all people seeking to make a difference, don’t do it at the cost of patriotism! Good luck in the future. Choose your fight more wisely.

Johnny Depp

I see the headlines all the time yet I have not read any of the court battle with Johnny Depp and Amber Heard. Should I really care about the Hollywood elite?

Teacher pay is not enough

Teachers with a bachelor’s degree get about $5,000 a year less than a teacher with an advanced degree and certification. Since the latter usually makes and enforces policy and curriculum, I can see why they deserve a higher salary. However, you won’t attract the best at that salary.

Good news

Such a heartwarming story about Ms. Riley getting hearing aids in Gulfport at Miracle-Ear.

DOJ’s Parchman investigation

It’s hard to believe that the Department of Justice feels Parchman prison inmates are being mistreated. They have free room and board, medical, food, air conditioning and a recreation room. They get far mare than many poor Mississippians. I, for one, would like to see less complaining about violating criminals rights and more making them work for the state to repay their crimes

Teen with a gun

Why does a 15-year-old teenager have a gun, where is his parents? I strongly believe most of this, not all, goes back to the parents!
